I would rather contribute to the health and education of my neighbors than live in a society of poor fools.

Public health care and public education are about raising all of society to a higher capacity to function... that means a healthier and more stable economy and a richly educated society.

No one earns what they have 100%. We all get help along the way: whether it was the help of your parents who paid for your health care and education as a kid; the county that paid for a surgery; the local food bank; someone who helped you get a good job or fill out an application or learn to create a resume; the person who taught you to drive; whether it was the person who gave you a free bus ticket or offered you a ride; or the person who gave you some spending money while you were in college. No one does it alone.

One last thing. Wouldn't anyone volunarily help their friends and family when in need? Why is it different if it is not YOUR friends and family? Only people attached to YOU deserve help? Only people who know YOU have a legitimate reason for needing help? ALL others are looking for a handout?

True compassion is understanding that it is none of anyone's business why folks need help now and then, they just do, we all do. Helping others, whether you know them or not, whether you voluntarily give someone a $5 bill or have $5 taken from your check for social services. Help is help. Its a good thing. Its what makes our country strong.

No I do not trust government to be the most trustworthy organization, but someone's gotta do the dirty work and change has to start somewhere.

Just my opinion of course...  :-)

Unfortunately, a lot of people choose not to care unless it is directly affecting them.

And a lot of people, because of their disagreement with this president, choose to believe the lies that are being spread to scare them away from healthcare change.
