so we got the "Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans" in the mail yesterday. and low and behold, on page 105, there's a poem by a young american writer by the name of alex paige smith, age 10. in our vast objectivity, craig and i believe she just may be a nursery rhyme genius.

enjoy:

TOBY, TOBY

Toby, Toby, sittin' by the window
Don't wanna go
Don't wanna go
Toby, Toby, sittin' by the bedside
Gonna fall asleep
Gonna fall asleep
Toby, Toby, sittin' on the floor
Isn't gonna move
Isn't gonna move
Toby, Toby, sittin' on the counter
Eatin' our food
Eatin' our food

brilliant.

Love it!  That was genius!   Toby is a cat.  Beautifully illustrated.

The fruit of your loom did that?

yep!  a year ago.  her teacher submitted it (along with the poems by the rest of her class) and hers was chosen out of thousands submitted from all over the country to be included in the book.
