Your CafeMom Code is a short line you can stick in your signature, to let other moms know a bit about you.
Here's how you find out what yours is:
"A" is for Abortion
- A++ : Any time the woman wants, under any circumstances
- A+ : Don't like it, but it's the woman's choice
- A- : Only for serious medical reasons
- A-- : Never under any circumstances
"B" is for Babies
B followed by a number says how many babies you've given birth to (or adopted)
B followed by "(b12g7b4)" would mean "3 babies: boy aged 12, girl aged 7, boy aged 4."
"C" is for Climate Change
- C++ : I'm Green and I do my part to reduce the oncoming catastrophe
- C+ : Climate Change is real problem, primarily caused by humans
- C- : Climate change is a natural part of how the world works, no problem
- C-- : It is a conspiracy
"D" is for Discipline
- D++ : I'll hit but not harm with whatever I want. Don't be a wimp.
- D+ : I use spanking as a last resort, as part of a structured approach
- D- : Spanking is never necessary and I don't use it
- D-- : Anyone who spanks their child is an abuser
"E" is for Evolution
- E++ : Science tells a compelling story of how we got here, no supernatural elements required
- E+ : All creatures share a common ancestry, but God may still have had a hand in creation
- E- : Evolution is an unproven theory, and only one of many
- E-- : Evolution has been disproven. God created the world and man.
"F" is for Feminist
- F++ : Women rock ! I can fight and fuck around as well as any man, and have the right to.
- F+ : Women are equal in that we should get equal pay, rights and respect.
- F- : The Femi-nazi movement has gone too far. I'd never call myself a feminist.
- F-- : Man is the head of the house. I'm a submissive wife.
"G" is for Guns
- G++ : I'm a pistol-packin' momma
- G+ : The right to bear arms is important. I keep mine locked away.
- G- : I don't like guns, and won't have them in my house
- G-- : Only police officers and soldiers should be allowed guns
"H" is for Homosexuality
- H++ : I have enjoyed sleeping with another woman
- H+ : Homosexuality is not a choice, and deserves same protection as race or gender
- H- : Homosexuality is unnatural, and they should not be allowed to marry in Churchs
- H-- : Homosexuals are abominations who should die
"I" is for Intuition
- I++ : I can use cards, see the future, read minds, interpret dreams, sense ghosts
- I+ : I sometimes just 'know' things, without being able to explain why
- I- : I'm not great at reading people, but accept that there are others who are
- I-- : There is no such thing as "Women's Intuition". Learn statistics
"J" is for Judgement
- J++ : There's right and wrong, and I'm not ashamed to say which is which.
- J+ : Some ways of living are better than others, but most others still deserve some respect
- J- : Your way of living may not work for me, but that doesn't mean it is wrong for you.
- J-- : I will die to defend your right to be different. No human has the right to judge another.
"K" is for Knowledge
- K++ : I home school
- K+ : I'm an activist parent and will work my guts out to get my kids into college
- K- : Higher education is only one path in life
- K-- : College educated people tend to be snobs
"L" is for Law Abiding
- L++ : Someone in my family serves in the police or armed forces
- L+ : I'm a decent, law abiding citizen who fits in with her community
- L- : I'm a bit of a rebel and willing to flout or protest when the law is an ass
- L-- : Burn the lawyers and politicians, then let's start again from 1st principles
"M" is for Money
- M++ : I've got it and I'm good at getting more of it
- M+ : I'm doing ok
- M- : Things are tough, but I've got the basics covered for now
- M-- : I depend on others
"N" is for Nation
N followed by a country, state or city in brackets, indicates where you live
For example "N(USA,TX,Dallas)" or "N(USA,Bible Belt)" or "N(England,Cambridge)"
If you don't like to say, then you can use:
- N++ : Big city gal
- N+ : Town or suburbs
- N- : Villager or rural
- N-- : Isolated as possible
"O" is for Outgoing
- O++ : I'm the life of the party, always trying something new
- O+ : I'm an extravert and gain energy from parties
- O- : I'm an introvert. Social contact drains my energy.
- O-- : I hate people. Give me animals or machines, any day
"P" is for Politics
- P++ : Socially free, Economically free (= Libertarian)
- P+- : Socially free, Economically secure (= Democrat)
- P-+ : Socially secure, Economically free (= Free Market Republican)
- P-- : Socially secure, Economically secure (= Protectionist Republican)
"Q" is for Quarrelsome
- Q++ : I love sassy no-hold-barred down-and-dirty debates and vendettas
- Q+ : I will persue a debate until I've made it clear to all that the other person is wrong
- Q- : I will speak my piece, but prefer discussions where everyone can win by gaining from it
- Q--: I don't like to contradict others, and would rather not post than possibly offend someone
"R" is for Religion
- R++ : Religion is the most important thing in my life
- R+ : I believe in a supernatural deity, and participate in organised worship
- R- : Religion isn't a big part of my life
- R-- : Atheist or tooth-fairy agnostic
"S" is for Sex
- S++ : Sex is great ! Consenting adults should be able to do what they want. I like porn.
- S+ : Sex is a natural and necessary part of a healthy functioning lifestyle
- S- : My sex life is a mess
- S-- : Sexual intercourse is only for when you're trying to make a baby. I can live without it.
"T" is for Thought
- T++ : I research everything, and decide purely on facts. The rational and empiracle rule.
- T+ : I put my head before my heart, when making decisions
- T- : I put my heart before my head, when making decisions
- T-- : Go from the gut. Reality will change if you want hard enough.
"U" is for Unwell
- U++ : Someone in my family has a long term medical problem or disability
- U+ : Someone in my family is not doing too well at the moment
- U- : We're fine
- U-- : I love athletics, sport, gymnastics, dance, etc
"V" is for Vaccination
- V++ : People who don't vaccinate are free loaders who harm the nation
- V+ : I vaccinate according to my Doctor's advised schedule
- V- : I don't vaccinate according to my Doctor's advised schedule
- V-- : There's a conspiracy to stop people finding out how evil they are
"W" is for Working
- W++ : I have a high powered job, and my husband is the primary child carer
- W+ : I work full time, but I'm also joint or primary child carer
- W- : I work part time or from home, and am the sole or primary child carer
- W-- : I'm a full time Stay-At-Home-Momma.
"X" is for Exs
- X++ : Divorced and Re-married, possibly several times
- X+ : Seperated or Divorced, and currently single
- X- : Partners or Married and still living together.
- X-- : Single or Engaged but not yet living together
If followed by a number, that says how many years you've been together
"Y" is for Your Generation
- Y++ : I'm a great grandparent
- Y+ : I'm a grandparent or have at least one adult child
- Y- : I'm a parent
- Y-- : I was a teen parent, and I'm still pretty young
"Z" is for Zzzzzzzz
- Z++ : I am always bursting with energy. Beware !
- Z+ : I do ok
- Z- : I'm short of sleep and get cranky at times
- Z-- : Zombie ! My baby is awake at all times of the night
Instructions
If you don't care about a category, or don't want to say, just leave it out.
If you want to clarify or expand on a category, just add brackets after the letter.
For example R++(Christian,Southern Baptist) or P++(Green Party)
The categories are only rough indications of where on a spectrum you fall, not pedantic exact statements, but if you care strongly about a category yet utterly disagree with any of the options, feel free to leave off the +'s and -'s and just substitute your own position in brackets.
Once you've chosen what you want to say, just put them on a line in your signature, prefaced with "CafeMom Code", and make that a link back to this journal post so other people can find out how to interpret your code.

At first sight, they disagree on a lot; but they both home school children with autism, perhaps they'll talk ?

I think you need to re-evaulate your political descriptions a bit; but otherwise; looks like fun!
I took the two political axes (and their definitions) from The Political Compass. I agree they won't exactly describe everyone, but I wanted something that would also work for non-Americans.
