On 9/11 many of our lifes were changed on that day. Mine was one of them. Here is my story.
My dh and I were split up. We decided to break up and get away from each other. I was on my way to Cali. that day with a friend of mine in his truck. We had no idea anything happen until his brother call us from Ga. He thought it was a joke(a sick one) but, one none the less. We stopped at a truckstop to eat. On the way there we saw alot of people in the tv room gathered around the tv. I saw the pictures of the Towers on fire. I was shocked to say the least. Everyone was standing in total silence. Then, the South tower fell right before my eyes on the tv. It was so quiet in the whole truckstop that no one said a word.
I looked at my friend and said,"We have to get to the drop, NOW!!" We had to drop a lot the right next to the Lax. We heard from everyone that they were in the process of closing the Airports. I was walking out to the truck and notice NOT one airplane in the air. That is when I relized we were in deep trouble. We got there and dropped the load and was out of the area before the Plane in Pa went down. I was really scared at this point. I call me Mil and asked if My son was with her. She said the kids would being sent home early. She was getting ready to get him.
I have never been so scared as I was on that day. I called my mom and told her I was okay. The scarest thing was I was on the West coast and I wanted to be on the East coast. The load we dropped was suppose to go to New York. At the last minute it was moved to LA instead.
I was truly saddened later that day. My mom called and told me that My Aunt and Uncle were in the South tower going to see there son. I was truly upset by this. It was bad that we were under attack now it was personal. I could not sleep.
I still cry when I see the planes hit the Twin towers. I still cry when I see the South Tower fall. It was as God wanted me to see the tower fall. No one should ever forget that day. I know I never will.
My son and I watched some of the Memorial service that played all day. He asked me some many questions. I answered with tears.
