I often wait to shower until evening, when I can be guaranteed some quality alone time without interruptions.  Except in this house, interruptions are about the only thing that are guaranteed.

I put the kids to bed, finished about 9:30 and staggered off down the hall with a loud "I'm going to have a shower, NOBODY had better bother me!!!!!"

Usually, just as I sigh a deep relaxing breath and let the water make me feel that all is right with the world, a little voice asks some lame question as an excuse to stay awake, I tell them to beat it and then I feel guilty for the rest of my shower.

Sometimes, if my hubby is not too tired, he will come for a sneak peek, even though he must know I am not welcoming visitors, especially those who want to paw at me.

Last night, though, just as I was about to rinse my shampoo, the water turned ice cold.  ICE COLD.   I was so, NOT, in the mood for ice cold water.  So, I took a deep breath, waited a few minutes, then lunged out of the tub, opened the door and heedless of sleeping children screamed "is someone using the water????"  I got back in the shower and instantly it turned warm again and I finished up quickly, relaxed feeling gone.

Downstairs I looked at my husband and said, "were you using the water?"

And he replied without apology, even though he was the one who pressed the ‘on' button, "no, it was the dishwasher".

So, although my family managed to leave me alone for my 3 minute shower, the dishwasher is to blame.
