It has been a very long month, and it's not even halfway over yet. Last week was a short week for most of us since it was Labor Day weekend. But for me, it was a very very long week. My kids are not in school yet as they are both under two.But my "third child" (aka my husband) was at work for only two days last week. Monday was Labor Day and he had it off. Thursday was my doctor's appointment at which I learned that I am farther along than I thought. Dh came with me so that he could handle the kids. And on Friday, he worked from home since his office was moving from across the street from the Empire State Building to on the Columbia campus, which is a lot closer to home. So it was a kind of crazy week for us!
In 6 days, my daughter will have her first birthday and we will enter that magical time of year when my kids are the same age in years. She is becoming a toddler, throwing tantrums, stealing from her brother, listening to one step instructions, learning to walk, and all that other good stuff. We're all very excited about it! We finished up her birthday shopping, spending a lot of money on clothes that were on sale since it's starting to cool off and she's growing into the 12 month size now. We also got her some toys, a CD to listen to at night since her brother broke the fan (good thing it's cooling off anyway!), and a Disney Princess book set. We found a present for Guy's birthday, too, a Wall-E magnetic play set and book. That boy loves him some magnets!
Another nice thing about the long week is that we got a lot of stuff done around the house. My husband cleaned up the kid's room for me, which is amazing, and he took out a lot of carboard boxes and garbage that had been waiting around for him to get a chance. So now we also have a clear walkway at the front door! Woo! Also, our kids have way too many toys. We're going to be bursting at the seams after birthdays, Christmas, and the new baby! I am reluctant to get rid of too much because of the new baby. I have been giving away baby clothes like crazy though. My aunt had a boy last May and my SIL's daughter was born a couple of weeks ago. So I've been sending out clothes like crazy. :)
Also, here is something that has been driving me nuts about my husband. I've said some good stuff about him in this post already, so now here is one of my pet peeves. He puts garbage in the sink. Not just food garbage, either. I have found fast food wrappers in there. The garbage can is literally right next to the sink, so why does he just dump it in there? I know I have my quirks and I'm not the cleanest person in the world. But omg, if I find anymore garbage in the sink I am going to snap. I always confront him about it and he just shrugs it off and says he was tired. Arrgh. We don't even have a garbage disposal. The other day I found a whole slice of bread on a plate at the bottom of the sink. Of course it was in the middle of washing the dishes, so the bread was totally soggy and impossible to remove easily at that point. Have you ever tried to pick up a piece of bread that has been soaking in water for god knows how long? Let me tell you that it is not pleasant. At All. Why can't he just take less than half a second to throw away his garbage before he puts his dishes in the sink? Why must it be something that takes me five minutes or more to clean up later? And why does he always bury it at the bottom? It reminds me of the cat he had the first couple of years we were dating/engaged/married. She used to poop on the floor and drag over whatever she could find to cover it up. Towels, clothes, garbage, plastic bags, whatever she could find. So one of us would be cleaning up the bathroom and pick up some towels off the floor and find cat poop underneath.
I've changed my mind, I don't want to get the kids a kitten, no matter how much Guy loves the one left that my mom is trying to find a home for.
