After speaking with a lawyer I have been informed that the wonderful State of Alaska will not terminate a parent's rights, even if they are willing, without another person willing to step in and legally adopt the child and take over those rights. The only exceptions to this are in some cases of domestic violence or child molestation.

So even though my douche bag of an ex is willing to sign off his rights to avoid paying child support, the courts will not let him.

So my attorney said that there is only one thing to do at this point... Beat him over the head with child support, so that in the future if I meet someone and get married and he wants to adopt Dylan, my ex will be willing to sign off his rights in order to get rid of the child support payments.

Gotta love our justice system...
