When I was 9 my grandmother bought me a pair of velvet pants. They were teal blue. I absolutely loved those pants. I wore them until they wore out. Meaning they actually had places on them that were no longer velvet. I came home from school one afternoon and found them in the trash in my parent's room. I swiftly took them out of the trash and hung them right back in my closet. My stepmother found them in my closet and swiftly put them right back intpo the trash. This went on for about a week until she finally emtied that trash can and they went to the curb for pick up. I was so sad. Those were my favorite pants. Every time I see teal blue pants (althoughI've never seen another velvet pair) I think about those pants.
