This is my 4th child and I have never felt early labor this bad. I have been up since 2am this morning having extremely painful contractions and backache 5-7 minutes apart for over 3 hours. I took a shower (thinking I am going to be in the hospital soon) and the contractions started coming every 8 minutes. Around 7 am I called L&D and explained all of this and they told me to come on out there. Got into L&D Triage and the first doctor I see says that I am still only 2 centimeters dilated but I am now 90% effaced (I was 2 centimeters and 50% effaced on Tuesday). He says he thinks I will have the baby today because I practically have no cervix left. WELL............
Another doc comes in and says we are going to monitor your contractions and if you have not dilated anymore in another 30 minutes, we are sending you home. Well time passes, I have more of these awful contractions (take my breath away, had to do my breathing to make it thru them) and she comes back in and checks me again. My cervix is even more thinned out, not quite 100% effaced but pretty close but I have not dilated anymore since the last 30 minutes. So she sends me home. I am now at home dealing with all this pain from the contractions and backache. Oh and she tells me to come back if they become 6-7 minutes apart.
Hope

Oh Girl! I know how frustrating sending you home was for you. They did that to me on my first one. My doctor even walked out during the delivery on me! He said when you decide to have the baby have the nurses call me. Well needless to say the nurse was calling as soon as he got out of the room! I was pretty ticked at him. I hope you are not alone today. You dont need to have the baby at home alone. Keep us posted and maybe you will have the baby soon. Good luck and i will keep you in my prayers.
