meandering musings from a mom

the meanderings of a muddled mom mind

How quickly we often cast aside God from our daily lives, then want to complain to him simply because things didn't go as we thought they should. How can we honestly expect any kind of blessing from our Father when we fail to spend time with him daily. Seek me FIRST the word tells us. When we get out of bed , seek him. When we brush our teeth , seek him. Time well spent in the presence of a loving Father who desires to show us what we have coming. How can we be prepared for the upcoming battle if we have not trained with the leader of our group? While out of home this week due to major repairs that required the water to be turned off, I got the privilege of staying at a local hotel with the forestry division of law enforcement along with their K-9 units. While watching these men and women with their finely trained animals I realized the work and dedication they put into their training as officers of the law then to add more time to developing a relationship with their animal.
For these trained professionals it became a matter of placing their trust in an animal to the point of life survival. To know that regardless of what they faced the dog would be their constant companion and the defense of their lives. But that trust extends the other way as well. The dog relies on their owner to provide the same sense of loyalty. They depend on each other from sun up to sun down and even in the midst of sleep. Having been raised around K9 training through my childhood friend's father I know the depth of the bond that gets established. If something happens to the trainer of the dog it is nearly impossible to retrain the dog for another master. Both the trainer and the master have been together 24 hours a day. Learning to even respond to the physical cues of each other. Words become unnecessary between the 2, they instinctively know what the other needs. The dog is willing to take a bullet for the master and vice versa.
Such as it is with our relationship with God. Our desire should be to be in His presence 24 hours a day even while we sleep. We should sense the change in mood of the Father simply by remaining in His presence daily. Our heart should be his heart and the wounding of his spirit wounds ours. We should know when He desires our attention, our praise, time to just be together. Intimacy is what I am learning about this week during my vacation and will share it with you here as I learn where it is God would have me
