So last night, the hubby and I drove to his best friend, Trevor's house.  He has two of the most loveable pitbulls ever!!  They will lick you to death, if you let them, lol.  Recently Trevor went to Kansas for his granny's 40th wedding anniversary, so we watched the two pits for him.  Anyways, he came back (obviously) so we went over there to ask how his trip had gone.  Well, we all talked for a bit, we ate and then I sat on the couch to study- while he and the hubby were bullshitting around.

Next thing you know, Zoey (the youngest pit) has something in her mouth.  It was a couple of feathers from her feather bed, that was already messed up from previous chewings.  So Trevor throws a huge ass bitch fit and slaps the dog in the mouth.  I kept asking him to stop- and just when I thought he was going to quit it, he kicks her!!  And I'm talking KIIIICKKS her!! Like HARD!!  The dog ran away yelping and I got so mad, I pushed him and went outside.  I hate people seeing me cry, and that's what I was doing.  Whenever I get mad- I cry.  I hate people who hit their pets, with a passion!!  It infuriates me and I won't stand for it.

So.. I come back in- and ask Brad to hurry the hell up, cause we're leaving.  Trevor looks at me and says,"Susy, as far as I'm concerned, these are not your dogs and this is MY house".. oooooh that made my blood boil!!  He's right!  That IS his house and those are his dogs, so I effing left.

On our way home, the hubby kept saying that I was a bit dramatic.  WTF??!!?? I'm no drama queen.. ever!!  I actually dis-like dramatic people.  Me being pissed off and walking away is considered dramatic??

Was I in the wrong??  I honestly don't think so...  I'm just trying to figure out why the hubby thinks I was in the wrong.

Zoey and Cash.

Some ppl shouldnt own animals!  Call animal control and tell them what you witnessed because the dog could be hurt.

You did the right thing!

Don't get me wrong ladies.  We've known Trevor for a LONG time and he has never done this.  Not in front of us anyways, so this was new to me.  I don't know whether he was having a bad day, which is NO excuse- whatsoever, but those dogs love him to death.  Most people don't take pitbulls anyways.  And I don't think it has gotten to the "calling animal control" phase.  I mean, if he continues with the behavior, well then- okay, but is one time in YEARS a reason to take his dogs away?  When we've only seen it happen ONCE?

I am sorry, but I think if he did it once he will do it again.  Dogs are faithful and often love cruel owners regardless.  I believe that people who would hurt animals that way would do the same to people.  Do his next girlfriend a favor and report the incident.  Why would you want to be friends with someone who would hurt innocents like that anyway?

We actually know his g-friend.  She doesn't get beat up, at all!  Trust me, she's like me and would NOT put up with that crap.  And on the whole friendship thing... like I said, he has never done it before.  Or not that we know of.  Which is why I'm confused right now.

That's the thing though.  Would they be happier if I were to call animal control?  I hardly doubt it.  I get what you're saying and you're right in a way, but I have to think before I act on this one.

You were NOT wrong and you acted like a mature adult...too bad the "guys" DIDN'T. JMO, your DH should have backed you up!

Abuse of an animal (Cruelty to an Animal) is against the law. I can't imagine that he has never done it before...most people who abuse make it a habit.

I understand your concern in calling the authorities...I hope you will let him know he's lucky you didn't...but, that you won't hesitate to if it happens again. Unfortunately, you probably won't ever know. ;(

What a beautiful dog. :(

I work for a pit bull rescue and am quite experienced with the breed.  That is the WRONG WRONG WRONG thing for that man to be doing to his dog and he really should be reported and have his dog removed.
