I bought a sewing machine a month ago in hopes that I would teach myself to sew. When I first bought it I cut up a few old shirts and made cloth baby wipes. Quite simple but for someone who has NEVER touched a sewing machine it was a starting point. I tucked it away shortly after and hadn't touched it since. That is until last night.
I'm determined to teach myself to sew and I will never learn if it just sits there. So I grabbed my bag of old t-shirts, sewing box, and of course the sewing machine and got to work. I followed a tutorial online and tore up one of my husband's Billabong shirts and made a prefold diaper. While this isn't the best material to use for a prefold diaper it's perfect for a manly burp cloth.
Again, it was quite simple but I find it best to start off small so I won''t get discouraged. My husband was impressed and it made me happy to where I want to continue sewing and hopefully I will get to the point of making my own cloth diapers and other fun projects for my family and home. I'm hoping to make a Fall Fesival costume for Mason rather than buying. I'm heading to Joann's tonight to grab material and other fun things to further my hobby.
