This morning was like any other morning. I arrived to work, turned on my computer and went to the kitchen to get a cold glass of water. Only difference was that the water that came from the filter was warm. It was so warm that I could feel the heat as it dispensed into my glass. I made a comment to a fellow colleague about my observation, and asked if she knew who I should report the problem to. She totally ignored my question and told me that I shouldn't be drinking "that water" while pregnant.
This was very surprising to me since the water that I drink is not only filtered, but regulated by the city of Ft. Lauderdale. I suppose that she thinks I should drink individual size bottled waters which I personally find to be very wasteful. Not only that, all the studies I have come across have proven that tap water is regulated better. In fact, bottled water is permitted to have a certain amount of bacteria, while tap water cannot. There are many other alarming facts, but I will leave the rest for inquisitive minds to seek out.
Besides, this mentality that we are "too good to drink filtered water from the tap" is a slap in the face to all the countries that do not have access to running water. There are people in the developing world who walk miles to get questionable drinking water. A lot of times they don't even have sanitary containers to drink from. They would undoubtedly be alarmed at how we mindlessly throw away a bottle of water after a single use.
Now, I know that sometimes bottled water is a better option in certain situations. Not everyone has access to quality public water, and sometimes it is simply more convenient to use bottled (sporting events, parties). What bugs me is that there are people out there who blindly believe the marketing campaigns where bottling companies portray their product as pristine and from a spring somewhere far, far away from civilization. All I'm saying is it pays to do a little homework. You may be surprised at what you find.

Searching the net, I have found that many times companies simply bottle tap water. How ironic that it was bottled in your very own city!! That must have been a trip.
Indeed, all bottled water is not created equally and is generally just bottled tap water, but, um yeah..Clevleand Water versus FT lauderdale water... need I say more about why I buy ozonated and reverse osmosis filtered bottled water where we live?
bah, I misspelled Cleveland. lol. BTW, this is where our bottled water comes from before it is filltered with ozonation and reverse osmosis.
I hate our tap water, BUT I buy a filter that goes on our water dispenser in our fridge AND one for the tap. I do use buy bottled water for like trips or othe things but not in bulk and it is not the only thing I drink..
my husband is a bottled water fanatic.. poland springs. i love drinking my New York tap water!
Our water in our house- *city* water- is contaminated with uranium...(!!!!!) and is allowed!!!
we import water in giganto bottles from our workplace- needless to say that water doesn't upset my tummy... first day in our new house I downed 6 glasses as I was thirsty from moving- and had a major case of tummy *troubles*!!! LOL- we (now!!) do not drink our tap water- not even our animals drink it!!
I'm very concerned about the plastic that water is bottled in. We're trying really hard to remember to bring our stainless steel water bottles.
Thanks for that link, Robyn. We're going to need to install a reverse osmosis filter in our new house!

Arsenic Found in Organic Baby Formula: Is It Your Brand?
Funny you say that. I was talking to a friend about that very issue. She was handing me a bottle of water at her house. I said I could drink tap. She said no this was better for me. I looked at the bottle and it was bottled with our city water! We both had a good laugh.
