That sums up my birthday today. I had decided to buy myself a new pair of walking sneakers a while ago for my birthday, as a reward for the work I've already put into bringing my weight down, and an investment into a healthy lifestyle. So today, my grandmother and my daughters and I drove to the mall, and I visited the shoe store.
I was excited to find a pair of Earth Kalso Lite shoes with Negative Heels. I had read about them and I was even more stoked to learn they are vegan and recycled and all that good stuff. So I bought a pair and when I got home, took a three mile walk. I could feel the muscles in my legs getting a better workout than before, and my back did not hurt at all. Excellent.
I don't have a lot of shoes, but the ones I do have I pay good money for and they will last a long time. Totally worth it, to me.
Before buying my new shoes, I stopped into a tea shop and bought a couple ounces of loose leaf green tea with a lovely mint aroma. We were talking about ounces and the shop clerk has a scoop of leaves there and I said, "I feel like we're talking about buying some pot!" and then realized, oops, I said that out loud...
Because I went out for lunch with Mema and Sara and Rosie, I felt it only fair to do something special with my son after he came home from school this afternoon. So we went on a little date to the ice cream shop and each got a cone, and then walked over to Thompson Park in the center of the village and sat together on a bench. Oh, did I mention how beautiful the weather was today?
Today was a perfectly clear, sunny autumn day in New England. The trees are beginning their lovely show of fiery color and the air is cool and crisp. September is our reward for suffering through another muggy, sticky, hot, buggy summer.
Today I thought a lot about my husband and how much I miss the man who used to make such effort to show me love on past birthdays, and yes it did hurt a little that he didn't even send me a text to say happy birthday. So be it...
It was a beautiful day with family, and everyone is healthy and happy. Can't ask for more precious gifts than that.

Isn't it ironic that I spent a few full minutes not being able to read about your lovely vegan shoes because that nasty Gogurt ad expanded across my screen?
Anyways. It sounds like you had a great b-day. Wish I could have been there to celebrate with you! That tea sounds good, but not as good as birthday pot. :)
