What fun things am I looking forward to in the coming months? Well, Sarah just turned one and is walking quite well, so I look forward to alot of cool things coming soon.
One of my favorite things to do every year is visit the pumpkin farm. The one we go to also has apple picking, a petting zoo and nice scenery for outdoor picture taking. This visit will probablly work well with "Apple Week" at school, and with the study Abby and I have been doing with wildflowers this year. Read more about that, and maybe plan your own study to start in the spring. Now that many of the flowers are breaking open their seed pods, I hope to make her understand the seeds are being laid now for next year's spring wildflowers (and other plants). This study has been incredibly rewarding to both of us this year and I can't wait to do one with insects next year (and I will be better prepared this time).
I also love looking at the autumn colors and hopefully Abby will ask how that happens, so I can explain it to her like I did in this recent post on Autumn Colors.
Another cool science activity I look forward to is some kitchen science. I am currently thinking of how to turn apple-sauce making into a science lesson for Abby. I am sure I can come up with something. These are the types of things I am working on for my new book (that I have just started working on this week). I also plan to talk to her moe about HOW things we bake and cook change, rather than just enjoying the great results!
Also, starting on Halloween, our science museum will have the new display about the science of sound. This will be our hangout for the last few months of 2009, as we hide out from the cold without getting bored!
What are you looking forward to? Any great science activities planned?

I do a ton of baking and canning, I always have my children involved in baking. Now they mostly make the fun stuff themselves as I supervise. They enjoy seeing how things change. Fall is full of more art projects for us. We collect leaves, pecans, pinecones. and make things out of them. I look forward to hearing the things you can come up with so I can pass it along. :)
