I don't believe I can talk about Gratitude enough! The emotional outpouring of feeling one gets when you think of how much you can actually be grateful for is astounding! I see many people that have many hurts, sorrow, painful memories and conflict. It's easy for one to say let it go. It's easy for me to say tomorrow will be a new day. This too shall pass... and so on. Being in the situations I have been involved in has left me from time to time scared, emotionally drained, sad and so on.
Reflecting on the positive aspects of my life and planning (moving forward) to my future has caused me to want more for myself and my children. Thinking of the many good things no matter how small or irrelavant. Whether it be a mug of hot chocolate, seeing a friend you haven't seen in a long time the list can go on and on.
Thinking of what you have despite much chaos going on in your life can help ground you. It can help you realize that you have many things to be thankful for!
I am grateful for many things myself! I may not always write them down but as in those times when I think or pray I think of the many things I am grateful for right now!
A big hug
Gentle caress on the cheek that let's me know I am loved
Kind words said throughout the day
Cookies!
I was able to help out my friend in her moment of sadness and grieving
I had someone with me that joined me as my partner and friend through the same process
I have someone that listens
The kids are enjoying school (Oh we still have issues with a certain child that does not like homework!)
I have good friends that check on us
Things seem to be working out for me to go back to school! (I find out today!)
I have a job
We have a roof over our heads
We have food in the fridge that was gifted to me through 2 great ladies!
We have our health
A cup of coffee with my fav guy
Silent old movies that made me laugh
It's not hard to think of the small things that give us joy or to remind us at how thankful we should be. There are many blessings in our lives, take a look around you. Open your eyes to see all the wonders, glory and happiness that is there. If you can't see it right now then perhaps you should begin to start! Call up an old friend, rather then wait for them to call you! Mend fences with a friend or family member, small steps and sometimes we may end up sucking down our pride to do so (even if it means admitting we ourselves are wrong!), go out and enjoy something you haven't done lately! Spurlge on something small that makes you happy! Go and help someone you know that is need of a hug or just a big smile!
By bringing joy and happiness into your life you will see the rewards! Sharing gratitude with others can be really contigious!
