So this week is obviously not a good week for preschool!  I'm easily irritable this week (why do our hormones have to go crazy just because we're women?) and Haylie is easily distracted this week.  Last week we ended when the workbook had the review of L and T.  I should have looked ahead more.  I saw that it started with H, but thought that it started off a new week... We did the one page of H's and then it was more review to L and T.  The next pages were both Fand I.  So yesterday I had Haylie learn H, I, and F. While writing she seemed to be distracted.  She didn't want to concentrate on writing and was just messing around drawing squiggly lines and such.  I took her out of her seat for a time out, and she didn't calm down any.  I gave her a choice of finishing her school work or naptime and she chose naptime, so I put her in bed.  She came out about 3 minutes later and said she was ready for school and she behaved much better!  She then wrote the letters no problem,  but can't seem to remember the names of each.. can only copy the picture or remember "2 down, 1 over" for H and "down, over, over for a short one" for F, etc.  After writing the letters she counted and colored pictures in her sesame street workbook.  Then we moved on to the third workbook and she worked on "near, far, above, below" again.  She did wonderful in that part.  We then finished with a review of writing letters.  After our school work was done, we went to the store and I bought stickers so that I can reward her good work!

Today we started off reviewing H, I, and F.  I also had her write a couple of L's and T's to make sure she doesn't forget them.  She's still having no problem writing the letters, but becoming overwhelmed at recognizing them.  The workbook introduced a new letter today, E.  Now that I know we're supposed to do 3 letters at a time, I can adjust our schedule some.   We then did a review of the letters.  Next we're supposed to start on diagonal lines, but I don't think she's ready to move on.  I decided to add a third day into preschool this week.  I believe we'll work some more tomorrow, but we'll have to start earlier, since she naps earlier on Wednesdays (since she has dance in the late afternoon).  After working on letters I let her color in the sesame street number work book, then we worked on the third one.  I had already decided to skip the number writing section, and we went to the next one.  It was letter sounds. I've decided she's not ready for this after sheworked on the a and d.  She said everything started with a and everything started with d.  Since I plan on having "letters of the week" when we start writing lower case letters I've decided that we an work more on these work book pages at that time.  So we skipped over to shapes.  She knows her shapes really well, but it also wants her to count and write the number in a box.  So I had to write the numbers for her.   We then finished up by glueing beans onto the letters H and I.  We're saving E and F for tomorrow.  She also got a sticker at the end of class.  I gave her a flower sticker for doing a job well done, and told her she'd get a princess sticker when she remembered the names of the letters.  I'm hoping she'll be able to after some review tomorrow.  I don't plan on moving on to the next letters until she an recognize all 6 of these.    I do need to find some more ideas besides the glueing the beans on paper for her to do with the letters.  I thought we ould do it with each, but I think I'm going to need to alternate... she seems to bore easily.

I'm sure next week will be a better week, my patience is just very short this week.
