FP: Happy ending

As Dan and I watched Peni and Marcus get married I sort of drifted off into my own little world. I saw myself having this baby and as I watched everything I noticed that one person had become a constant in my life. I saw him holding this baby, who was in a sense fatherless. He loved this baby and loved me. I smiled at the Dan in my daydream, he had crept into my broken heart and repaired it when I wasn't even paying attention.

I was no longer daydreaming when I looked at my friend standing beside her husband. I looked at Dan and he winked at me. I couldn't help but smile when he smiled. He and I stood up and he grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. He kissed me and whispered he'd be right back.

I looked around and smiled at other guests as they were walking by. I saw Jared and smiled, but I felt the pain of his cold stare. I looked down again and waited for Dan.

I felt the chair beside me shift a little. I ignored it thinking it was someone bumping in to it as they were leaving. I jumped a little when I felt someone touch my hand. I opened my eyes and it was Jared.

I wanted to grab him and hug him, but I just sat there staring at him.

"Serena, I am so sorry I acted the way I did. I never meant to say any of those things."

"It's okay Jared, you had every right to be mad at me." I said as I rubbed his soft cheek. "I should've told you I was pregnant. You and I were together so you do have as much of a chance to be the father as Oliver or Will."

"Do you really think it's Will's?" Jared asked sadly.

"I do, the timing matches up and it would just be my luck. I am already raising one with a part time father, so why not add another one."

"Did you tell him?" Jared brushed the hair out of my face as he looked at me.

"I did, he was shocked, but he was so polite about it. He told me that he'd be there for me if I needed him and that he wanted me to call him and keep him up to date on everything involving the baby. He wants to be there if it's his baby."

"And what about Ollie?" Jared paused. "You have Landon, so what if he is the father of this one as well?"

I could feel the tears burning my eyes, "He doesn't want this baby to be his. He is great with Landon, but I am afraid if this one is his he will just walk away from the kids."

Jared took my face in his big warm hands. "I won't walk away. If you need me I am here. On my honor."

"What if it's yours Jared? What if this baby is ours?"

Jared seemed to be waiting for this question. He closed his eyes. "If it is my baby I will be the best father I can be. The baby will never lack love, support, or guidance.  I want this baby to be mine. But if it's not, I will still be there. I was there for Landon and I can't see this baby being any different."

I smiled and hugged him. He was an amazing person, he always knew exactly what to say to make me at ease. I think of it as one of his gifts.

He sighed and I could tell there was something more. I looked at him and smiled. "What is it Jared?"

He wasted no time. "So, what is going on with you and Dan?"

I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me. I didn't know what to say, but Jared deserved the truth. "We were friends, but feelings from the past came to surface. We aren't a couple but I feel like we are headed that way." Jared looked heartbroken. "I never stopped loving him, I just moved on and met Oliver. Now all those feelings are even harder to ignore. It's so hard to explain Jared."

Jared looked at me and nodded. "I don't have to understand it to see it. I see it every time he looks at you. He loves you, and who couldn't love you. But, lately when you look at him I can tell you still love him." Jared kissed my hand. "As long as there is a place for me in your heart, and as long as you are happy I support the two of you being together."

I hugged him and cried. "I will always have a place in my heart for you Jared. And if Dan and I decide to become a couple, you will still be one of the most important men in my life. I love you!" I kissed him on the cheek.

"When babe, not if. You and Dan will become a couple I can tell." He smiled and stuck his tongue out at me. "Can I escort you to him?" I looked up and saw Dan smiling.

"Did he set this up?" Jared nodded as we walked to Dan.

"Are you two better?" Dan asked us.

"Yes we are." I said as I hugged Jared once more.

"Thank you for letting us chat." Jared said to Dan.

"Anytime." Dan said with a smile. "Ready to go?" He asked me. I nodded and grabbed Jared to drag him with us.

On such a lovely day I found my way back to Jared and I stopped denying my feelings for Dan. What an amazing time. It really was a magical place!
