What in the hell were they thinking?!? (Bad parenting)

I was talking to a friend about bad parenting and it struck a memory up in my mind that I had long since forgotten.
When I was about 16, my mom and I were at the grocery store together. We were walking past a mom and her baby, who was probably a year old, maybe younger. They were shopping in the produce section and the baby unbeknownst to it's mother was sucking on the handlebar of the shopping cart. When the mom finally saw it she said "Eww don't suck on that! Here, suck on this instead" and handed him.....drum-roll please.....A PLASTIC BAG! Sooo.....instead of letting him get exposed to germs, she'd much rather he suffocated?
My mom and I both saw it and slowly turned our heads to each other wide eyed, and mouths agape.
I want to hear your worst story! When have you seen a parent doing something absolutely, insanely stupid? Or worse yet, have you ever done something ridiculous to your child, only didn't realize you had done it until much later?

Wow that is horrible. I would have said right infront of the mom "Actually "timmy" you do need to say sorry because you made (your husband) very sad, and it isn't funny when you make people sad". I hate those parents too because when that kid starts school he's going to be a terror and it'll be all their fault.

Wow. I can't believe what some people do! We have some friends who have a 3 year old. We were over at their house about 6 months ago when their son colored on my husbands jeans with a marker (my husband was watching football so he didn't notice him doing it Lol). Well the dad realized what he had done and was trying to make their son apologize when the mom says "he doesn't have to say sorry if he doesn't want to". I was amazed! He just ruined my husbands brand new pair of jeans and he doesn't have to say sorry?! They also allow him to slap people in the face..they think it's funny. They'll actually tell him to go hit people and then they laugh. Some people shouldn't have kids....
