A Light in the Darkness: Two Families Struggle with Autism

Here is something that I wanted to share with my cafe mom family....

 

Her little four-year-old body radiates energy and life, purity and love to those who are near her. Yet beyond the sparkling blue eyes and her angelic face is a mind that is struggling and frustrated�unable to express itself and put into words what she is feeling or thinking. Little Noelle Gordon was two years old when her parents discovered she had Autism�a neurological disorder that affects a person�s social interaction and communication skills.

Compared to other two-year-old children Noelle didn�t seem far behind. So when her daycare teacher said she suspected Noelle had Autism and those suspicions were confirmed by doctors, Noelle�s parents were crushed. �It was a really hard time for our family,� her mother Wendi says. �We really didn�t know anything about Autism.�

And Wendi is not alone. There are now about 1.5 million cases of Autism in America and the numbers have skyrocketed over the years. The US Department of Education reports a growth of 10 to 17 percent a year. This growth is making scientists believe there may be more to this disease than just genetics. One theory is that harmful chemicals in the environment or in children�s vaccines can trigger Autism if they already have it in their genes. But Autism is still such a mystery, and many people who have Autistic children in their families are desperately searching for help.

Twenty-nine year old, Gregory Nazarian, is one of the people who suffers from a more severe case of Autism than little Noelle. Gregory�s mother, Astrid, says Gregory can�t speak, he grinds his teeth forcefully, suffers from grand mal seizures and becomes angry and frustrated when given certain objects.

Both Wendi and Astrid have tried many different suggestions from doctors on what could help alleviate some of the symptoms their children were experiencing, but nothing seemed to give them the long-term success they were looking for. "I had given up hope," Wendi says, "but I prayed that someday Noelle would be okay. It was a matter of experimenting. That's when Melaleuca came along and it's awesome what's happened to this child," Wendi says.

�I completely converted my home to Melaleuca�s all-natural products as soon as I got the Value Pack and within four weeks I had to go into Noelle�s school to talk to her teacher who has been working with Autistic kids for 25 years. Both Wendi and Astrid say the changes have been amazing. Little Noelle who was still wearing pull-ups at age four and pushed away physical affection because of heightened physical sensitivity is now reaching out to hug other kids in her class and letting the teacher know when she needs to go to the bathroom.

Once ravaged by grand mal seizures every week Gregory has only had one seizure in the past three months. And after TWENTY-NINE years of only being able to sleep one to two hours at a time, with the help of Calmicid, Gregory now sleeps through the night. �Thank you God,� Astrid says. �After twenty-nine years of waking up through the night, do you know how tired I am?�

Astrid has also seen remarkable changes in his overall wellbeing. �He is trying to say words which he hasn�t tried since he was three years old. He�s breathing better. He used to have one cold a month and now he only has one a year.�

�The change has been incredible,� Wendi adds. �I only use Melaleuca products on this child. I feel that it is something that God led me to. Now I can pick her up and squeeze her and love on her and she is not pushing me away. That is what touched me the most. That has been the greatest thing for me. It�s almost like I feel that through her I have a greater connection to God. The change has been so incredible. It�s like a Godsend. I never expected it. Never. Matthew & Blaine Knosby
Matthew & Blaine have autism. Their cases are mild and they are considered to be high functioning. They were falling behind in their abilities to speak. Matthew is now 8, and Blaine is 5 years old. They would try to tell us what they wanted. At first, they wanted to point to things to get us to get it for them. The therapists told us that was a no no. We then tried pictures for them to point to. Dr. Kruger said that was too easy and that she felt they were capable of speaking to us. We tried everything we could think of to break our communication barrier.

When we'd do to a get-together at a family or friend's home, they would just sit by me (their Mom) and play a little hand game. They would even play side by side, but did not try to interact with each other. They didn't want to try to interact with other kids because it frustrated them to try to communicate with others.
When company came by our home, they would retreat to their rooms and play without even saying hello to anyone.

When I first learned of Melaleuca, I was willing to try anything for them. I started out by getting rid of all toxic cleaning products for our home and replaced them with safer products from Melaleuca. (Reactions to chemicals can also intensify learning disorders and autistic symptoms. ) I started them both on the Koala Pals Chewable Vitamins and 2 ProvexPlus. Blaine has a hard time with capsules. So I take the capsules, break them open shake the contents onto a glass of juice that he drinks. Trust me, it works great. Since doing this, the boys have improved dramatically. Matthew greets people at the door. He says, "Hi, my name is Matthew. What's your name?" Blaine talks non-stop too. He is a social butterfly now. We used to have a hard time leaving him at school. He'd cry for fear of having to interact with others. Now, he goes and plays and doesn't cry out for me. He has gone to many birthday parties where I ask him if he wants me to stay or if I could go run some errands. He now tells me I need to go do my errands. When at home, they play pretend together and interact well with each other and others. Where before, they would just play side by side.

These significant changes have impressed their Autism Specialist at Children's Mercy Hospital. The first check up after starting on the vitamins was phenomenal. Always before, Dr. Kruger would call us back and Matthew would just follow her. In May of 2000, she called us back, and he ran up to her and said, "Hello Dr. Kruger, how are you today?" I wish you could have seen the look of surprise on her face. She went through her entire exam without even knowing about the vitamin program the boys were on. She was amazed at the changes in their exam. A lot had greatly improved. She asked if I was doing anything different. Hesitant ast first, I ddi share it with her. She was very impressed and asked me to send the information to her office to share with her patients.

I have found many wonderful results using the Melaleuca products and vitamins. The improvements in my sons' living abilities have been incredible. I know that without these products, my sons would not be doing as well as they are.
