(theme) When was the last time we went to the Zoo?

We go all the time! We have been members since Abby turned one (four years ago).  I really recommend the membership to any zoo near your town. We go all the time, Abby is really familiar with the layout and leads me where she wants to go.  We never feel like we have to see everything, since we'll be back again soon.  I have a fabulous collection of pictures (animals and my girls).  We take our lunch so it doesn't cost us a dime to enjoy a day in the sun (or shade) at the zoo.

The best part is our membership at our zoo got us in FREE when we went to the Tampa Zoo (2x) on vacation, which saved me over $70!  Awesome perks!  And it will get us into the local aquarium for half price.  We'll go there again when the weather gets too cold for the zoo.

The sciencey stuff....... learning about animals at the zoo gives your child some fundamental knowledge you can build on for years. Abby learned to identify a wide variety of animals, understand where they live and why.  We talk about endangered species, death, conservation and life cycles.  And it was a nice bonus that the place had alot of wildflowers inside too (see my posts about a summer learning about wildflowers)!
