Well on Wednesday 23 I woke up with the most horrible contractions. They were even worse than my previous episode. The contractions started out at 10 minutes apart. I waited around the house most of the morning not wanting to be sent home. I had a research study appointment at the hospital where I planned to deliver at 11:30 that morning so I decided to go on it for the study and then swing by Labor and Delivery Triage afterward to be checked for changed. Got to my research study and the machine was broken so up to labor and deliver I went. Keep in mind while all of this is going on, I am stopping in horrible pain every 10 minutes.
Got to triage just know that this was the day......
Got hooked up to the monitor, yep I was right, contractions regular and strong every 10 minutes. Doctor checked me out, still 90% effaced like last week but up to 3 centimeters dilated! This was great news! So I thought. So they told me they would check me again in an hour for change. I was taken back to the research center to finish my study and come back to Labor and delivery thinking the walk would do some good. Hooked back up to the monitor, still have strong contractions, matter of fact after lying there for about 30 minutes I noticed the contractions were HARDER! I could not talk thru them, it was awful. Once again, I just knew I was being admitted and having a baby.
Doctor finally came back to check me, NO CHANGE in an hour. SENT HOME IN AGONIZING PAIN only to be told to take a tylenol PM and try to sleep and come back when they are closer together. WHAT????
I go home, having to pull over with every contraction because they hurt so bad. Finally made it home, took a tylenol PM and laid on my couch and cried thru every contraction until I finally went to sleep. My husband was so sweet and supportive. I woke up about 11:30 that night and got up to use the bathroom, didn't feel a contraction. Drank a whole bottle of water, didn't feel a contraction. I remember thinking "shoot, they are gone again". Got in the bed with my husband and laid down, about 15 minutes later as I was just dozing back off to sleep, WOW whopper contraction! Okay, they came back..... tried to relax thru it and decide how I am going to deal with them. I go to try to doze again and then another contraction and then POP! and I felt a warm waterfall......I woke up my husband and told him my water broke and he jumped straight out of bed. We rushed out of the house, as we dropped off my daugther , we had to get towells from granny to contain the AF. Got to the hospital and got upstairs OH MY GOD the contractions were 5 minutes apart. No triage this time, straight to a room this time. Once I got in bed, I was given fentanyl. This made me feel good but did not take away the pain. I was now 5 centimeters dilated but easlily stretched to 7. They finally came in to give me the epidural and when i got up to have it done, I asked them to wait because I was having a contraction, after that contraction I felt the burn! They looked down and I was crowning, Don't push they said but then the whole body shot out at once sunny side up on the bed!! My precious baby boy made his rapid entrance into this world on Thursday, September 24th at 1:49 am. He weighs 6lbs and 14oz and is 18.1 inches long. To add to all this excitement, on the day my husband came to bring us home from the hospital he showed up looking AWFUL, he was so sick and exhausted. I had the nurse check his temp and he was 102! He was sent downstairs to the ER to be told he has H1 N1!!!!! My day came crashing!. Now I am home with my new baby, my friend and her kids and my sweet husband is in a hotel sick as a dog! He can't even spend time with his new son and he is so depressed. Please pray for us as we go thru such a hard time in this time of celebration. I have been in tears all day and trying to keep my sanity.
