I read a question on here where someone was talking about people who rely on the goverment to fix the mistakes they made by their own irresponsibility. Pretty much it was geared towards people losing their jobs or whatever and getting on public assistance. Well, one TOTALLY CLUELESS IDIOTIC woman responded by completely being disrespectful and dissing MILITARY WIVES who get "knocked up and then beg for help". First of all, I am a military wife and don't know of too many WIVES that get "knocked up". When you are married, you become PREGNANT. Plus, you can ask anyone in the military as to whether or not they are able to or qualify to receive public assistance...and I bet you...95-99% will say "hell no!" Supposedly, most soldiers MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY based on the financial guidelines for family assistance. She also spoke about how the government gives military public assistance in a way because of military housing. Well, obviously she has never known anyone in the miiltary because that is not how it goes. Anyways, I wrote this woman the following message in a private message:
I am writing to let you know that I found your answer to be very hateful and wrongly guided misinformation! Are YOU a military wife? If you aren't, then you have NO BUSINESS AT ALL to speak about something you do not know about! First of all, I AM a military wife. I AM married! I was MARRIED BEFORE I got pregnant with my kids. I am MARRIED to their father. Their FATHER is a SOLDIER! My husband chose to serve our country during a time of war and nearly lost his life several times in doing so. I am one of the lucky wives who still has her husband and whose kids still have their daddy. My husband is a good man! I am a good woman! We lived on base in military housing, but it WAS NOT free! As part of military pay, you are provided with an additional amount of money to help cover the cost of living based on the area you live in and based on what rank the soldier is. IF you choose to live in on-base housing, that money GETS TAKEN AWAY from your paycheck! We still PAID RENT! It was NOT FREE! We NEVER received public assistance in any form. No matter who you SAW asking for PA, if they were a military wife, MORE THAN LIKELY THEY DID NOT QUALIFY!!! Public assistance is not usually given to military personnel because under the family assistance guidelines, military personnel are considered to be making TOO MUCH, which is a crock of crap because our soldiers DON'T get paid enough to be in harm's way at the beckon of our presidents! So, before you go insulting the very people who give you the RIGHT TO SPEECH, think twice about what you are saying! You not only insulted us military wives who have to endure MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER ENDURE IN YOUR LIFETIME...but you also insulted the soldiers who are FIGHTING and DYING for YOUR FREEDOM!
Comments:
The woman actually emailed me back and said she didn't mean to offend me or anyone else and that she was being sarcastic. Who knows. Military members don't make much of anything UNTIL they hit Officer status!
Very well written. I am glad you expressed your opinion, provided facts, and did not just lash out at her.

Arsenic Found in Organic Baby Formula: Is It Your Brand?
I, too, have found that many people believe that (a) soldiers have very large paychecks, and/or (b)military families do not have to pay anything for on-base housing, medical, etc. My beloved is an E-4 in route to an E-5, and he makes a grand total of just over $2600 per month! We live off-base because it is actually CHEAPER!
