Does anyone have any great ( and relatively easy ) blanket ideas?

I'm wanting to make the kids a few things for Christmas, and thought I'd better get started on some of it now.  ( Or soon anyway )

I have 2 girls - ages 8 and 4  and one son who is 5 1/2.

Fleece is really easy to work with and VERY forgiving. I know those no sew fleece blankets look ridiculous, but simply sewing with right sides together, turning, and topstitching makes it look good. My daughter carries hers around everywhere.

Something even easier is a flannel rag blanket. That's a tutorial for a receiving blanket, but you can easily make it bigger.

Oooh thanks! I like the flannel rag blanket!  Flannel is *always* on sale, and I think I could make a cute one.  :)

Yay!

Super simple...fleece.  I personally don't like the 2 layers of fleece (like the no-sew kind) because I think it's WAY too hot.  But...I do like 1 layer of fleece with a silky ribbon trim on it.  The width of the fabric on the bolt (I can't remember if it's normally a 45 or 60) is wide enough to go on a twin bed...and you just measure your bed for the length.
