I can't even begin to describe the scare I had today. But it was awful. I think my heart stopped beating and I held my breath!! To start out I am not a superstitious person, and I don't really read into things. I believe everything happens for a purpose. With that being said, a few events recently have made me wonder why certain things happen.
A couple months ago a friend from high school was in a car accident. He died at the scene, his wife was taken in a coma to the hospital and his 3 month old baby was fine. 23years old. He was an amazing person. Everyone knew him because he was friendly to everyone he met, and always had a smile and kind word to say.
Then a week ago another friend was in a car accident with her baby. Luckily they both survived but her few month old baby is now in a neck brace for a couple months. She broke her neck, but they believe she will be alright. My friend walked away with a couple scrapes and bruises, but is ok.
So I couldn't help wondering why all of a sudden these friends from high school were getting hurt in car accidents. They're good people. Accidents happen.
Today however scared me! I was driving my little family around in our minivan (which I've always believed we're pretty safe in!). We had some errands to run before my ultrasound this morning. I had a clear green light and just as I got to it, my wonderful hubby starts pointing and "Aa Aa Aa"ing (which is actually hilarious because he gets mad when I do that while he is driving!). A HUGE MONSTROUS Lifted truck runs her red light! I'm not lying when I could've sworn I saw her stopped at her red light. Did she just think hers had turned to green without paying attention, did she forget a light is not a 4-way stop!! I'm sure we came within a foot or two of hitting her, and trust me, our van would've been scrunched to pieces! I think I experienced a little after shock once we got to our destination (which was right on the other side of the light!). My stomach tightened and I cramped up some. But I just had to sit. I didn't want to think what could've happened, but it kept running through my mind.
Of course hubby later joked, "Why didn't you just hit her?" We've been looking into selling our van to get out of debt, so if we had totaled it, it may have taken care of everything on it's own. But I am sooo glad our brakes work as well as they do and I avoided getting anyone injured!
So don't take life for granted. Forgive those that have hurt you. Hug your loved ones a little longer today. Life is short and precious, let's make the most of it by spreading love to everyone.
