I came across this article this morning on Yahoo. I feel so bad for all the families involved. I think it's shameful that in some states the law prohibits the doing of a good deed. A Michigan woman got in trouble because she lets the neighbors' children come over for about an hour before the bus picks them up. The bus stop is in front of her house anyway. She was turned in by someone for running a daycare. She isn't even charging anything! According to Michigan state law, you can not watch ANY unrelated child for more than 4 calendar weeks out of the year unless you are a daycare. That's crazy! Now these parents have to (if they can) come in late to work every day, lose their jobs, or pay hand over fist for a daycare that would only service the kids for about an hour?!? I hope that they can change that law. I'm glad I live in Pa. where I am allowed to help a neighbor in need without such craziness.
