Think about it. Atheism is defined as the lack of belief in a God(s) or Supernatural power.

Religion is (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance.

To say that "Atheism is a religion"  completely ignores the definition of both words.

I see many creationist websites that attempt to rewrite the definition of Atheism, claiming that it means "The doctrine or belief there is no God". Such a statement does not make sense. There are teachings of NO-God-ism? We don't have evidence in the non-existence of God (It's rather impossible to find evidence of something that isn't there) we claim there is no evidence to believe that there is a God. It's not a belief, it's a disbelief.

I have also seen websites attempt to claim the definition of atheism is "the denial of the existence of God". This would be more accurate if there were some definitive proof that God exists - but there is none. That's like saying that because there are people out there who believe elves exist then the rest of us are elf-deniers. It just does not work like that.

So again;

 Atheism is not a religion, and not a measure of faith or system of belief.
