The problem, at least in my 9 year old's eyes, is that because she has an older sister who is a very good singer and is recorded and put on YouTube frequently and she has an older brother who is an accomplished pianist who is also on YouTube frequently, there is little room for YouTube of said 9 year old doing much of anything.
Let me elaborate just a bit. Abby (the 9 year old) is incredibly passionate about many things. She's our resident tree-hugger and is quite the little Earth Mother - following in my steps methinks. She's compassionate in ways that are way beyond her 9 years. Her talents aren't so much singing, dancing, playing and instrument or drawing.....her talents are in her intuition, her ability to see what's real and important even at her age and in her heart-led path. Okay, so how to I video tape that so she doesn't feel like her path isn't as important as the rest?
My error was trying to think of something for her to DO that I could record. Then I realized, just BEING is enough.
Here in Florida, the calendar says autumn but the weather is still hot, hot, hot. Today it's not as bad because the humidty is down and it's "only" 90 out so really, it's a beautiful day. We decided to pull the horse out of the pen, clean her up a bit and ride around the yard. Since Abby used to take lessons a few years ago - and the horse is sort of "hers" - the 2x4 smacked me upside the head and reminded me that I can record her. Sweet!
Of course, photos were taken too.

Yep, through the horse's ears. ;-)

Through the trees.

Yes, even Mom rode...checking the fence line to see how much repair is needed.
And now the video......
So now Ms. Abby has a video on YouTube which, hopefully, will fill her with some more lovin'. :-)
Comments:
Awww! That is great! I got your e-mail about this & couldn't get it to load for some reason.
I Love that top photo - very cute. She is getting so big & it is so obvious what a cool being she is :) It is funny, I woke up thinking about riding horses this morning - interesting. I think I should come down there & have her teach me a few things.
I also have to comment on what a beautiful horse Whisky is - he reminds me of a siamese cat - lol.
I hope this video makes her feel not so left out.
Awwww! Abby is so beautiful. She beams beauty and peace! I love it Dest!!!!!
Hey, Abby! That is really cool. When I was her age I rode a pony at my aunt's house and someone slapped him on the haunches and he started running around the paddock. Scared the living daylights outa me and it was 20+ years before I ever got on a horse again. She looks so relaxed up there. Thanks for sharing with us, Dest.
I love how serene she is! Yay for Abby! Riding with that level of confidence and poise at 9 yrs. old is very YouTube worthy indeed.
I really enjoyed hearing your voice, Dest.
That was really thoughtful of you, Dest :-) I am sure it made her feel really special to have her passion showcased like that.

That is so cute. I read a long time ago that girls that are envolved with horses have great self esteem. I've never been able to put the two together and figure out why. But I keep hearing it. Besides, it looks like she is really having fun. So it can't hurt, right?
