I have been married 29 years.  Last winter our electric went out for four days because of a bad ice storm.  The first night wasn't too bad, my husband and I talked a bit and went to bed early.   The second night we were SOOOO bored of each other.   The ticking of a clock that was battery operated was the ONLY noise in the house.  My husband had to take the batteries out of the clock. LOL....things you never notice until there is no electric for days.   Anyway by the second night we were using our cell phones calling to find somewhere,  anywhere to go and sleep with heat and electric.   My daughter offered her apartment to us. Thank God we are a close family.  We fit, but barely.

What we realized was since we both live together, see each other daily and pretty much life goes on around us we don't have a whole lot to talk about after all these years when forced into silence of an electric outage.

When the electric came back on , all went back to the same routine, grind of life.

What I would suggest to you though would be to see if you can get your DH to join something like a league or volunteer somewhere or do something together on a regular basis that involves other people.   It will give both of you some common ground and you can have something to talk about.
