Give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, running over shall MEN give into your bosom. Luke 6:38
We
often quote this verse, many times in turmoil and stress. Repeating the
mantra , waiting on God to pour the blessing on us, to provide the way
in impossible situations. But how often do we turn away from the
blessings He sends from the hands of others? How many times have you
been offered something or someone attempts to help you out and you
refuse their help? Not in a mean way, simply by saying, " Oh I couldn't
let you." or by saying, " You really shouldn't have." Do we realize how
we grieve the Father who sent them to be our blessing?? The verse tells
us that MEN, God will cause MEN to give unto us. So we turn away our
blessings hoping for some mind blowing earth shattering experience to
proclaim the glory of God and His love for us. An event so boggling
that the only conclusion to be reached is But God. But in our pride and
feelings of unworthiness we bar someone else from receiving their
blessing from God. For their blessing of us is a seed of faith for
them. Although we should never give in expectation of a return only, we
should sow into another because it is the lifestyle Christ demonstrated.
We
desire to be givers, it is the very nature of God, He gave His best to
us. He also tells us that when we give and do so in the nature of God
He will multiply our harvest. We are basically planting a seed into
another , they have become our field. Never underestimate the power of
planting seed into another. Become aware of the harvest that can be
sowed in even the smallest of things.
Yet what continually amazes me
is the things we often overlook waiting for the huge mind blowing event
of God's favor pouring out on us. Something as simple as lunch being
paid for by another is a blessing to us yet a seed for them. Often our
humility and feelings of unworthiness block the flow from heaven to us.
We negate our worth in the eyes of our Father, we minimize our
contribution to His kingdom and miss out nt he reciprocal affect of
being a blesser. You cannot be a blesser if you are not getting
blessed. It is that simple. God said everything we need is already here
on the earth, from the beginning of creation He set it all here
already. He knew the end from the beginning. HE knew that He would have
to sow the seed of Christ to reap the harvest of believers. So when we
disregard another's attempt to sow into us we are disregarding the
sacrifice that Christ made in order that we would walk in that blessing
flow. If we carry the belief that something is too small to let God
handle then how on earth are we to expect him to handle the big stuff?
If we fail to give him our smallest need he cannot train us in the
levels of blessing that are waiting for us in heaven. How depressing
would it be to get to heaven and be shown everything God had in store
for us as a blessing, simply because we were blessers, and we failed to
receive any of it due to pride or unworthiness. If we could do it all
ourselves what do we need to believe in Jesus for? Why should we even
bother to go to God for any reason if we cannot understand that we need
to go to Him in EVERY situation.
So the next time someone wishes to
bless you, even if it is something as simple as buying your lunch or
giving you the change to pay a bill, accept it with gratitude and a
thankful heart. Let them know they have not planted their seed in
unfruitful ground.
