I posted this in my group, Pagan Moms New to the Craft, but thought I would share it here, too, to get feedback and ideas.
I haven't written a ritual yet. I suck in that way lol. But, I do have a basic plan and I intend to start trying to write my ritual this week. Here's my idea for now:
My dad passed away last year, so I intend to put up some pictures of him on my alter from the good days, before his health went downhill. Then I'll also have my alter set up, probably a little special (like having little pumpkins as candle holders) and have some of his favorite things set out for remembrance and some as part of my offering. Then I'll probably commence with my ritual. I also plan to spend the day reflecting on the good times with him and writing down every memory that sticks out to me on small slips of paper. I'll somehow incorporate this into my ritual, like burning them in my cauldron as sort of a way of sending them to him, since the veil is so thin that night. I'll also be writing out things that I intend to let die this year (like habits and the like) and I'll burn those during another part of my ritual. I'm not sure if I want to burn the memory slips or put them in a decorated box with a picture of him outside it as a way to sort of honor his memory, then set it out somewhere in the house as a reminder that he's still with me, even if not physically. I'm leaning more towards that option.
So what are your plans for Samhain this year? Any thoughts about my ideas lol? I could really use some serious suggestions since this is my first year observing Samhain, completely, in many years.

I haven't written my ritual yet either, but I'm planning on doing a small dedication to my grandmother who passed away this past year, and a big rebirth ritual because this past year has been hell, to say the least.
