DD and I were just digging through the Halloween decorations and I came upon an activity that I did with kids (aged 4-6) at a Halloween Party. The kids loved it so thought I'd share it with you. This is MY version - there are lots of opportunities to make this "your own" - but feel free to use as is!
Note - I typed up the instructions using some special font (I think it was a Harry Potter font) and printed out for each of the kids to have/keep.
POTENT POTIONS
1) Acquire a witch's cauldron and stirring spoon
I used those little black plastic cauldrons
2) With all due caution - select a Draught of Dragon's Tears (carefully though - they're very volatile!)
I used fancy glass colored bottles purchased from Oriental Trading. The bottles were filled with white vinegar. Add food coloring for extra effect.
3) Place your cauldron in the silver magick accelerator
A disposable aluminum pan helps keep the mess off your table and floors!
4) Place 1 spoon of ground Unicorn Horn in your cauldron
I used a mason jar (decorated with halloween rub ons). Fill it with baking soda. Add a little glitter for extra effect.
5) As you pour some DRAGON TEARS onto the UNICORN HORN in your cauldron - say "Glitteratus bubblio!"
For those of you unfamiliar with this type of experiment, the vinegar and baking soda bubble up nicely into a frothy foam that will overflow the cauldron. MAGIC (at least to a 6 year old)!
Have fun!!
