I went in on sept. 2nd for a knee replacement. I entrused in the doctors that had prepared me for this very surgery. They went from taking me off some of the meds that I had been taking for yrs and putting me on a few others. This made me feel quite uncomfortable, but what do you do when you need this surgery.

I am not sure if many of you know but after being a CNA for 38yrs it took it's toll on my body. Causing mass destruction in my back, and my knees are rubbing bone to bone. I have a few others things going on one which was water seeming to collect in my body. So I was put on a water pill to help. Needless to say that was one of my pills that was taken away.

Anyway after my surgery things got worse. The recovery time went from 3 days and then out to being stuck in the hospital for almost 2 wks. I hate having surgery anyway it leaves me feeling depressed, and sicker than I usually am. This is only my 3rd surgery in my life.

So I got out of the hospital and went home still having a bit of trouble breathing but no oxygen went with me. As the days passed I noticed that if I walked, or cleaned I couldn't breathe. I had made this known to one of my surgerons at a follow up visit but he stated that it was nothing to worry about.

A few days later I called my doctor whom I have seen for many yrs now. She told me to go right to the ER and have an x ray done. I did and they found that pnemonia had built up in both my lungs. Hence why I coudn't breath. Then they found that since I had been taking off both my water pills my body had filled up with water and they were trying to get it back out. They put me back on the water pills and some antibiotics.

Needless to say it's been a busy 2 months almost. I am still not well, I still am not breathing well. My knee is getting better though I am now walking with a cane. That's a plus. I went to my doctor 2 days ago and yesterday went for another xray. I am going to find out what is going on today with the xray and my lungs. I am on oxygen and have been since leaving the hospital last.

(as you may know I don't write journals so my daughter is writing this for me. I felt like I needed to update my friends and email pen pals. It's not fair to just leave you up in the air. I do hope you keep me in your thoughts and prayers.. I don't want to be on oxygen the rest of my life, and I just want to be sick any more... I will never have another surgery that's for sure!..)

So that's what is going on with me.. I hope to soon be checking emails and keeping in touch. Missing you all so very much. Hugs and thanks for being such great friends/moms.

OH MY Kathie....I am so sorry this has happened to you, your Surgeon should have consulted your Family Dr before taking you off ANY of your meds!! You need to be seeing a Lawyer, believe me I wish I had after all I have been through! Keep seeing your family Dr., doing what she say's. keep doing your therapy so that your knee will get as good as it can be! God IS with you, just Trust in HIM & you will be just fine!
