Pack Retribution

A thick chilled mist hung in the around the Pack as they all sat stunned looking into the with the same thought: Jacob's dead.

As La Push's Cub Pack Alpha even Paul didn't know what to say. They all waited quietly for the new Alpha to arrive. There was so much anger and saddness words couldn't express. From one individual to another the Pack was split. Some wanted vengence. Some saw Jacob being killed by venom from the Cullen's a unfortunate side effect of living with and being married to one. Other's were just baffled at a lose, unsure where to go.

Heavy footsteps sounded down the beach drawing everyone's attention. There was no doubt he'd resumed his postion as Alpha. Everyone around the fire could feel it in the slight bend of their shoulders as Sam Uley approached the Pack Council. His hands large hand were clunched into tight fists. There was a resolute determination in his face with a strom raging behind his dark eyes.   

Sam stood at the head of the group quiet for a moment as he met the eyes of everyone Pack member. No one knew he'd been working with their new Pack physicial for a biological way to maintain the ability to shapeshift even if it's not used, or if it's been stopped. There was no better time for him to reveal the effects now by retaking the Alpha possition as one of their own had been murdered. 

"Everyone knows why we are here," Sam's voice carried with a deep underlying growl. Slowly his head turned seeing a lone form coming closer to them. "Where have you been, Embry?"

Hanging his head Embry answered, "Around..."  Then his eye skimmed over the Pack looking for those eyes of his Half Brother. Confusion furrowed his brow wondering where was Jacob?

Still standing at the head of the group, Sam watched quietly as Embry sat down besides Seth.

Knowing he Seth would lean over whisper: Jacob's dead, man. Vampire venom from Nes

"What?" Embry's heart started racing as he looked at the ground with fists would clench. Breathing became heavy as he blinked away the tears in his eyes.

"We've become soft." Sam discated. "Against our very nature, our purpose, we befriended leeches letting them into our families and lives. Somehow many of us forgot they are all cold blooded killers down to the last one. Our weakness has lead to the death of our Pack brother. It's not time for pointing fingers to hash our how we got here. We're all responsible for letting things get to this point. From now on we remeber we who we are. We are Vampire killers. They are not our friend and will always be foe to the Pack and danger to our people. They are the mortal enemy. The Pack is made to protect the mortal poulation, our Quileute people, from the Cold ones. Jacob's death has taught is that there is no room for weakness. This is a new day for the Pack. From now on things will change."

"First we need to bring home the body of our brother to where it belongs. The Cullen's" Sam spit out the name as if it were a curse word. "Will not release his body. There is no way we can let them get away with murdering one of ours and the refusing us the proper rights for him. Tomorrow I will lead a group to recover Jacob's body and hopefully seek retrubution for his death."

Sam paused looking again over the eyes of every member present - Collin, Embry, Seth, Jared, Brady, Quil, Jalil, Tori, Kara, Paul, Shawn, Anthony, Justin, C.D., Davy, and even Leah sitting with Marcus Flint. Only Peni was missing, being too delicate or a situation with her pregnancy to attend.

"I cannot, or I should say, I will not make everyon participate. Some of you have attachments to these Bloodsuckers. I'm not without empathy for those sentiments. Whoever wishes retaliation for our Brother's death and to bring him home, we will assemble at Peni's house in Great Hallow in the morning."

"Any of you that betray our plan to the Cullen's is as good as trailor." Sam spat on the ground. "May the death of our Brother's or Sister's eat at your soul till you are hollow. From now on things are going to change. I'm back in charge. It's a new day."    

"What about us of Jacob's Pack?" Seth's voice rose hanging for a moment in the fog. "We should have the right to our own Alpha."

"Are there any of you who still feel like Jacob was right in his Vampire loving sentiments?
 Sam asked. "He's dead because of it?"

Embry stood up with his fists clenched looking directly at Sam, "I'm not going."

Seth breathed a sigh of releif, "I'm not either."

Sam looked around as a couple of other Pack members stood beside Embry and Seth refusing the mission.

"So who will be your Alpha now?" Sam looked at Seth.

"Wouldn't that be you, Em?" Seth said to Embry. "You're Jacob's half brother."

Embry look at Seth shaking his head quickly. Then he looked toward Sam, "Look, I'm not trying to get these guys to go against you.  I don't want to be the Alpha, whether it's my birthright or not.  I'm just saying, I can't go along with this.  Liyet is my goddaughter, I can't hurt her family....not matter what's been done to mine." 

"I respect your decision." Sam said evenly. "Though you know I disagree. Everyone has the right for their own choice in this matter. If no one steps up, I will become Alpha of this entire Pack. Everyone can choose to remain Pack under my leadership or go."

"I still want to be a part of this Pack," Embry replied. "But this mission, I just can't do it." 

"That is respectable." Sam told him. "Anyone else who wishes to avenge Jacob's death, meet me in the morning."
