Today was chilly, and I loved it. The clouds were reminiscent of snow-filled clouds I grew up with. Though there was no snow, had those clouds relaxed, it was a sure possibility considering the low temperatures even at sea level here. The air is the most telling symptom of fall and the coming winter. It bites, or nips, with a clean scent though. I am eager to bring in boughs of fall leaves, something it has been years since I've even seen...I could frame the mantle with them, it's not as though we have the fire going yet, though why? I don't know, now is the perfect time to stoke the fireplace. still have to figure out if i need the chimney swept, though. Never had to figure that out before. Oh well, I'm so ready to bring in pine cones and fall colored plants to make centerpieces! I've turned a lovely bouquet of fall flowers into a dried hanging ornament. I want to buy a basket-full of gourds, fill the house with the scent of baking pumpkin and brown sugar and nutmeg. I want a windy stormy couple of nights, sitting cozy indoors with a giant mug of hot cocoa. Oh, I can't wait for the winter series. I will have so much more down time to keep up with that one. Ha ha.

I am from Iowa but live in So Cal right now - I do so very much miss the season changes, rain, snow, sleet, thunderstorms, etc. It never rains here!!!!! Fall is my fav season - that cool, crisp fall air - the smell of the fields / dirt as the farmers harvest!
