Well besides the fact that it means I'm headed toward menopause and no longer in the prime of my youth - they give you no warning whatsoever.
Last night at bedtime I was chilly. It's October, it's Massachusetts, we have a cool snap, I refuse to turn on the heat mid-month. So I go to bed in pajama bottoms, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt (I said I was cold remember?). I watched TV with the hubster and remained chilly. So I left everything on when I rolled over and went to sleep.
1am WHAM! The body furnace turns on. It doesn't "gradually" heat up, it goes from cold to OMG PUT OUT THE FIRE in 5 seconds flat! I sit up, throw off the covers (forget the fact that they came off the hubster too), rip off all of my clothing and toss it to the floor. I lay there trying to ignore the trickles of sweat running down my body and decide I'm too sleepy to get a towel to wipe down. Eventually I fall back asleep.
.....only to wake up sometime later FREEZING. All that sweat had dried on my naked and uncovered body. Dig through the pile of clothing on the floor, put a t-shirt on, pull up the blankets and curl up to the hubster's back.
I sorta feel bad for the hubster and having to deal with my broken body thermometer. I know he's thinking that the old fashioned idea of twin beds in the master bedroom might not be so bad ....for the next few years!
Comments:
Oh joy! What I have to look forward to LOL! I wouldn't feel too bad for hubby...men have it much easier than women...I mean, think about it, our bodies are just full of torturous things (ie periods, cramps, PMS, pregnancy, not to mention complications of breast feeding and such)...Men have it much easier IMO. :o). I hope you feel better today!
You're so right about men having it much easier physically. I only feel badly for him because this has been going on for so long - - - and I never know when it's gonna hit. If I'm only half awake I end up ripping off all the covers OR throwing them all on top of him. He can't win.
But I have years more of this nonsense to go but I'm thankful it doesn't happen in the middle of the day..............yet
Welcome to womanhood. Just wait. In the middle of winter, your going to wonder why everyone is wearing sweaters and jackets. Last year I found myself outside in tank tops and shorts...what? like its cold out here? Feels GREAT!
Do you do yoga?It really helps especially when the daytime hot flashes hit. You feel it coming and will help you breath through it so its not so bad.
