Imagine having a new baby girl, who is born appearing perfectly healthy. She learns to talk, smile, play with her toys, hold her cup, and possibly walk.
She is beautiful, vibrant, and full of so much potential. Then, something changes. You see her little girl start to struggle to hold objects, she may lose her ability to walk, and she starts to have seizures. No longer do you hear her say "mama", or "dada".
This is the story of countless little girls; little girls affected by Rett Syndrome. These beautiful little angels, of every race and nationality, are healthy at birth, but then regress at anywhere from 6-18 months.

Rett Syndrome is caused by a mutation in the MeCP2 in the X chromosome. It is completely random, and can strike any family. It affects far more girls than boys. The girls are often left severely disabled, and have a wide array of medical problems.
Amazingly, since they have found the gene that causes RS ( several of them, actually), they have reversed symptoms in mice. It is this hope that keeps us going.
Please take a few minutes of your time and watch one, or both of these short videos about Rett Syndrome. The first is an awareness video that explains the disorder, and the second, is my daughter's story.
Please help us raise awareness, and give hope for a cure in the future.
