So, I'm embarking on the dating world and I have a question... "Who pays for the dates?" I've been told that the man still pays. Or who ever makes the most money pays. Or who ever asked for the date picks up the check. Some say everyone goes dutch, until you are in a relationship, then the rules change again. You can see why I'm perplexed. Does the same standard apply to same sex couples? What are your thoughts?? What are the rules of dating?

I know my single friends (in thier 40's 50's) don't do a lot of dating because its just too expensive to do so.  It does come up in conversation when they are over my house for football games, etc.

So from knowing this, if you are interested in someone , talk to them, and if you do ask to date, make the date as inexpensive as possible for both of you.  Because TOO, after your in a relationship you won't want to be spending a ton of money just to see each other.

I would say not to depend on any of those as being the rule. Everyone sees it differently as you can tell from asking around. Be prepared when you go on a date. Have some money just in case you need to pay.
