Dr. James Dobson is a Christian psychologist and teacher. He knows alot of people and scenarios. A friend of mine gave me a calendar one time that was on his book of "Bringing Up Boys". This is an excellent book if you have boys and are having struggles. My problem was I was a single mom with five sons and a daughter to raise. Well, being as I'm a female, I wasn't going to have too many problems with my daughter. But my sons...well that was a different story. I had a dad but he wasn't around much because his job took him out to helping other people. I didn't have much to go on since I hadn't any idea about the make-up of men. That's alot of the reason why I was single, because I couldn't understand how my husband would do the craziest things and there was no rhyme or reason (that I could see) to them.  Getting so angry that he would go off and smack me around was not my idea of getting real answers for the situation. So in frustration, confusion, and pain, I, finally, left him, taking my kids with me.

So when my friend gave me this little calendar, jam-packed with practical advice and encouragement for raising and training my sons, I devoured each one. I, also, went to the library and checked out his book. It is great!

So I thought I'd share with any of you moms out there that are struggling and are having a real tough time of it. It might help and if not, go for the book too. It is full of help. God bless you and your son(s).

1.   Our objective as moms and dads is to tranform our sons from immature and flighty youngsters into honest, caring, men who will be respectful of women, loyal and faithful in marriage, keepers of commitments, strong and decisive leaders, good workers, and men who are secure in their masculinity.  It's a tall order but one that can be achieved with wisdom and guidance from the Father.  The primary mechanism by which these goals are realized is the application of confident  leadership and discipline at home, tempered with love and compassion.                Proverbs 16:3  " Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established."
