these are great. i'd like to know how to stop my kids from eating 50 pieces of candy on Halloween. Ideas?
I only buy candy that I don't like (for me - anything with nuts) so that I'm not tempted to eat it all! I have no self control if there's candy I like in the house.
If you need Halloween ideas, I recommend checking out this guide http://bit.ly/2GIqKj because they’ve included a bunch of how-to videos. For anyone who’s going all out for Halloween and creating any costumes and decorations from scratch, you should enter this Halloween photo contest, too http://bit.ly/44K5tE Seems like fun!
My dentist has a buy back program as well. I actually have my kids convinced that there is a Halloween ghost/fairy who comes on Halloween night and takes away most of the candy and leaves them fun books to read. I let the kids sort the candy the night of trick-or-treat and keep a tiny amount. They are really excited to leave the candy for the ghost and excited the next day to get the new books. I recently read this article on Candy options that I thought were good. http://current.com/items/91201102_healthy-halloween.htm
We have alot of fun with our extra Halloween Candy... we do Candy Experiments --- It's super fun! ![]()

Okay my strategy is to wait and buy it as close to Halloween so I don't eat it. I try to buy what I don't like. Anyway I finally broke down and bought some last night......and I've already eaten 5 !!!!!!! Dang it!!!
I buy candy as close to halloween as possible not so I don't eat it but so my husband doesn't. Since my oldest isn't old enough to eat all the candy he gets we ration it out to him over time...

Like MediaMom, we hoard it and ration it out over time. The dentists around here also host a buy back program. They purchase the candy from the kids per lb., it gives the kids a little bit of spending money and less cavities, and they ship the candy (the kind that can be shipped) overseas to the troops :)
