Last week Luke got into big trouble at school on Wednesday, spent Thursday AM in "in-school" detention.  Both days this week he's resisted getting out of the van at drop-off time.  Yesterday 2 aides had to assist him in and he went into tantrum mode and spent the morning in the office.  Today 2 aides had to assist him in again, but at least he made it to his class.

We had Quiznos on Saturday and he had sauce on his sandwich (MSG).  It just amazes me that some DARN sauce can cause so much of a problem. I know we probably do a LOT better than the average American family with keeping out the nasty foods - but half the time I feel like a failure.  I feel like I should know better, especially since we have the information on good places to eat, according to Feingold standards.  But that doesn't cover HFCS or MSG in foods, which cause us problems.

How long have you been on FG Eilene?  We started at the start of last years schhol year & we had a lot of ups and downs before things leveled out.

Just about 2 weeks ago we went out for Chinese and got Ben chicken fried rice, since I am now aware of his food allergies I made sure to ask if they cook with peanut oil - nope, they use vegetable oil.  Go mom! right?  Well, duh me, after him eating it that Saturday for lunch then eating the leftovers Sunday (great, double dose) he started acting like a wild man.  Then I remembered that most restaaurant oils include TBHQ to lengthen their shelf life.  He was on RED at school that Monday & the teacher wrote "out of control" in his folder, she also called to talk to me.  :(

We have him back on track now & he was green all week last week!! yay!

We have had to learn through trial & error with some foods & restaurants.  He does okay with Taco Bueno, so we frequent there a lot.  :)

Have you tried Alka Seltzer GOLD or the baking soda/water for reactions?  What about Epsom Salt baths or foot soaks?  I just posted a really interesting article about epsom salt in the Treating ADHD Naturally group.

All that said, I know how you feel!!!!!

hugs  Try not to beat yourself up...

Thanks Ginny.  I think that this goaround it was the MSG in the sauce, maybe in the meat as well.  I def know how to reduce reactions, but not eliminate them.  I don't use Alka Seltzer Gold much, but have it.  I use epsom cream and Natural Calm instead of baths.  I've been giving extra L-Theanine for about 2 days too now.  He barely put up a fight today, so hopefully he's doing well.  Was much better at home yesterday and better this AM while getting ready too.
