So.

I'm still doing well with the eating. Keeping the calories under 1400 but higher that 1000. It's tough, but I get them all in.

But right now I am having a hard time with the exercise. It's not that I don't want to, really. It' that I can't do the things I was used to.

I have - well had - a large abscess caused by a staph infection on my inner thigh. Like.. right at the top where my leg meets my crotch.

I went to the hospital on Friday. I know I can get the financial assistance to pay for the bills, and I can't get that with my regular doctor... plus we called her and she didn't have any appointments open.

The pain was so bad on Friday morning that I couldn't stand up, sit down, walk, pee... anything without pain. The thing was huge and SO SO painful. It felt like my leg was going to pop whenever I moved the muscles around the thing. And there are a lot of muscles right there.

Anyway, we went in, they got me on a bed, and it was agony to get my legs open so they could see it. And then, of course, they had to touch it and poke it. So I was laying there sobbing, crushing the hell out of Ben's hand, and freaking out. I knew what they would have to do, and I knew I didn't want them to. I didn't want them to touch it.

The doctor ordered some demerol for me because the pain was just INSANE (I mean, come on. It's a little abscess the size of a 50 cent piece. HOW can that little thing cause SO MUCH PAIN?). That helped. A lot. I think... haha it made me really... errr.. happy? They said I had a very goofy grin on my face.

After that, it gets kind of gross, so go back if you have a weak stomach..

The doctor came in with all these "fun" little instruments. The worst part was when he numbed it. It's hard to imagine a needle that small can hurt so bad. But ooohhh it did. I had to get poked three times to get it fully numbed. Then he sliced the sucker open and I could feel it draining out. It was disgusting. Blehh.

After that, he had to pack it with iodine soaked gause to prevent the hole (which is over an inch deep and big) from filling back up.

They gave me vicodin for the pain and some antibiotic for the infection, and told me to come back in two days to get the gauze removed.

Needless to say, I've been in too much pain to do much. At the suggestion of my friend Bree, I've been trying sitting exercises with my arms and stuff, and that makes me feel better.

I went back two days later to get the packing removed, only to see a different doctor who does things ... differently. He didn't want to remove the stuff for two more days. Soo today, I go back to get the stuff taken out, and (hopefully) that will be it. If it's not healed enough, they'll have to re-pack it, which I'm told is extremely unpleasant. Fun.

So. That's what's going on. That's what the hole in my leg is all about. That's why I've been AWOL (haha).

Wish me luck when I go back to the doctor this evening. I'm quite scared. = /
