Blaise POV
The Owl tapped on the back window before Sara was awake. Setting down my tea, I marked my place in the paper before walking to the backdoor to receive the small package tied to the leg of the Tawny Owl. Slipping a knut in the tiny pouch tied to the other leg, I turned the box over in my fingers seeing no note or sender name.
Slicing the tape along the edges, I unfolded the box. The note fell to the ground as I recognized the pair of Sara's torn underwear that were ripped from her body the day of the attack. In a flash my wand raised incinerating them. That was the last thing Sara needed to see. We'd already incinerated the bed and clothing she wore the day of the attack. I hollered for Jalil to get sent from the note before I picked it up off the ground. When he nodded he'd gotten whatever scent was on it, I opened it. Written in blood red ink were the words: Do I need to come back and finish what I started?
Immediately I turned to inside the living room where Kelsey held Brailee saying, "Take her to Reg's."
Davy bounded out of the forest from where he was patrolling. "Call Sam," I said. As Jalil and I pushed through the back door I called. "Sara?" With my wand out I apparted up the stairs to the bedroom hearing Jalil's heavy paw's hitting the floor of the upstairs. "Sara?" I said again lifting her warm body, breathing softly as her eyes opened.
"You're okay...." I sighed kissing her face as Jalil finished a sweep of the upstairs to make sure it was clear. I knew she was confused. All I wanted to do was get her to safety as soon as possible, and figure out with the men what we were going to do end this and protect her.
Not wanting to see Sara digress from the progress she made since the attack, I sent her to Peni's. I showed her the note so she knew what was going on. Five members of the Pack were around Peni's to watch over Sara, as all the men gathered around our table to discuss the matter.
"What we know is that this man doesn't give up." Sam started the meeting. "Either he's oblivious to all he's up against, or worse yet, he knows full well and is not intimidated. We've pushed. Now he's pushing back."
"Prehaps we should take a step back rather than incure any more acts like this?" Albus Dumbledore raised his brow. For a moment I wondered if people were right, in his old age the man was losing his edge.
Reg looked at Albus, "You want to let the bastard get away with this?"
Aberforth shook his head, "I want him dead, but not if it means she has to go through more fear."
Leaning back I was trying to take it all in as Sam spoke up, "I am confident in the Pack ability to protect her."
Albus looks at Sam, "Physically yes." Then he pointed back to the note, "But this was not meant as a physical attack."
Flint ran his hand through his hair, "He's trying to break her."
"Why?" Reg asked. "We already know he got Sebastian, he got what he was after"
Father spoke next, "This man has put a great deal of effort into being invisible. I recognize the tactics. It was how I remained invisible for over twenty years. He's almost traceless... except for this..." he lifted the note. "I'm sure once we attept to trace it as far as we can we will again be following a trail to nowhere as we have been so far. The tactic's his employing are extreme for simply wanting to remain nameless. Most would just disappear. But he doesn't. That's disconcerting. It does seem like he's after more. I cannot fathom what."
Fear gripped the heart of me. My Father was truly like smoke in the wind when he wanted. It took a year of Dean and I following him, and Peni driving herself into the ground, to find him. I couldn't imagine going though that again.
Aberforth shook his head, "I see dirt bags like this more often than I care too in my profession. Some part of the bastards getting off on this. Knowing he has power here. Knowing that we're looking but can't find him."
Reg says quietly, "If we stop looking, will he stop?"
Ab shakes his head, "No, not now that he's had a taste of it."
"It's very likely a game now. This man doesn't strike me as one accustom to losing," Father added.
Suddenly in my mind I saw us all on a board of Wizarding Chess where Sara was the Queen, Sebastian the King. We were all now throwing our self in destructions path to protect her as she was a casualty of being tied in some way to him.
Albus nodded at Father. "It will require great skill to outsmart him." Then he looked at me asking, "Are you prepared for this?"
Tapping my finger on the table, I bit my lip thinking over everything that was said. "We have no other choice do we? He started the game. Now we have to finish it."
"We've got her covered." Flint spoke for the Pack. Sam smiled at him like a Father to a son. "Jalil isn't going to let anything touch her."
"That Pack will continue to protect Sara here in England," Sam spoke with his usual authority, "as well as Marcus and Peni as they return to Great Hallow. We always take care of our own. If this is a game, we all have to make sure we are on the same page so we can end this once and for all."
Reg nodded, "As long as by end, you mean kill him, we're on the same page."
Sam gave Reg a small smile, "If that's what it takes."
Albus smiled lightly, "You have my full cooperation. Anything we in the Wizarding world can do to help is at your disposal."
Aberforth looked at Sam, "I'm still digging...if there is something to find, we'll find it. The bastard can't hide forever."
Flint clapped Sam on the shoulder saying, "Thank you." I could see in Sam's eyes even though Flint couldn't phase, he saw him as more than just a cousin, but as pure Pack.
"And I am widening my search." Father added. "In between caring for the girls, I'm traveling abroad more seeing if I can find whiffs of this... person." The smiled on Father's face was one I'd never seen. It showed a love of the game. Maybe he did have more in common with this person than I knew. All I could hope is that we were enough. It was horrible I wasn't that concerned for Flint's family as much as I was for Sara, who I loved, and wanted to build my future with.
