WARNING on FLU SHOT

I recently took my 4 year old daughter to the doctors for he asthma.  I asked my doctor not only as a physician but as a mother her self that has 2 small children on her position on the flu shot.  She stated to me that she is not going to give it to her children for she feels that there is not enough studies on it.  She stated that the flu doesn't kill people, if people get to the doctors quick enough that it can be taken care of quickly.  That made my decision for me.  I was leaning on not getting them in the first place.  I have never has a flu shot.  My mother, father and both brothers who had flu shots always end up terribly sick.  My older brother was hospitalized after having the flu shot and had contracted  the flu.

They didn't say swine flu shot, but a seasonal flu shot...  I don't see/hear mention of the swine flu in this story.  Am I missing the connection?
