We couldn't do Halloween week without a post on bats :)  Black bats are a natural (slightly creepy) sidekick to halloween, but have you ever seen white bats?  How cute is this Honduran White Bat?  Picture from rainforest-alliance.

Up close, he's got quite an interesting nose (picture from animalpicturesarchive.com).

These bats are tiny little fluffy-furred white bats.  Parts of their skin is bright orange, which you can see on their parts that are furr-less, like the ears and face.  Rainforest-Alliance has a nice information sheet if you want to learn a little more about these creatures.  It is quite interesting how they roost in little tents made of leaves, which makes their fur appear green to predators!

Happy Halloween!

Maybe that nose would be able to resist white nose fungus!
