My oldest son, Joshua was diagnosed with the swine flu yesterday. I was reluctant to share this with cafemom at first, because of the negativity I sometimes encounter. However, I believe this could help someone else, so here is his story.
Last Friday, Josh complained of a sore throat, and a stuffy nose. I treated him with over the counter cold medicines. By Sunday he was burning up with a fever of 102.3, I gave him fever reducer which brought his temperature down to normal. I took him to the Children's Clinic Monday morning, and the doctor said he just had a common cold. He gave him a prescription for Vazobid to help his nose, and he said if he is worse by Wednesday to call him for an antibiotic prescription.
On Wednesday, he started with a horrible cough I called his doctor, and he called out Azithromycin. Thursday, his English teacher called to tell me that his best friend who he sits next to in her class was out all week due to the swine flu.
Yesterday morning, I tried to wake Josh up to put his clothes on, he does not respond after calling him three times. After tapping his shoulder, he wakes up kind of out of it. I told him to put his clothes on so we could go to the doctor, he put his pants on backwards with the button in the back, and he was trying to button his pants by reaching behind.
He is twelve years old, and I knew something was seriously wrong when I saw that. I stopped him, told him what he was doing, and he switch the pants around to put them on correctly. He complained of being dizzy, and having pain in his head, arms, legs, chest, stomach, and back. He was still congested, and coughing every time he breath inward. We went to the Children's Clinic, and his doctor was very concerned. They ordered a breathing treatment, nose swab flu test, finger stick blood count, and a chest x-ray.
When we were coming out of the x-ray the nurse came and said, "Boy, you have the flu, your numbers are off the charts." She said that they were all looking at his results like, wow. The doctor came in our room, and said that he tested positive for Influenza A, which means he has the swine flu, because this is what they are seeing the most. He was prescribed Tami-flu, and I was told to continue his antibiotics. The doctor said that his x-ray was normal, so they will not admit him.
If he is not better by Monday, I will have to bring him in. He has been in bed all morning, and he says that he still feels the same so far. I am trying to take care of him, and my other four children without exposing them to what we have already been exposed to.

Hope he feels better soon! And that no one else in your family gets it.....
aaw, I'm sure he'll feel better soon. I think I had it too but I never went to the dr to get it confirmed. I've been sick for 3.5 weeks now and still coughing
oh wow. I am so sorry. I feel so bad for him. I wish him health. Tomorrow when I go to church, I will say a prayer that he find his back back to his normal self once again.
I hope your baby feels well very soon! It is so hard to see them sick, I know when mine are sick I wish that I would have been the one to get sick! Keep us updated momma! Prayers for your son!
Sending good healing vibes his way! I hope he recovers quickly and the rest of you guys don't get it. All of you should eat LOTS of raw garlic and drink a mixture of organic apple cider vinegar, hot water and raw honey.

Hope he feels better soon. My 2 year old just got over the h1n1 flu & had temps as high as 105.6. It was scary. Did they put him on any meds? Noah's ( my son) meds seemed to help a lot.
