WHATS wrong with people!!!

VENTING....

Ok, so here's the situation: I live in a condominimum association, a small complex with two major streets (and a few small ones) that have two or three stop lights. There are no pathways for pedestrians and every other house has at least one dog and no backyard. The posted speed limit is 20mph.

I live in this complex since 1999, first with parents and now we bought a house 5 min away from parents. It's a straight shot to my mom's house...So most evenings, after I get my daughter from pre-school and we come home, we take the dog and walk over to my mom's for dinner and family time.

Sometimes, drivers go by a bit faster than I like (30mph or so) but we've never actually had a problem until today. Today, a car came up from behind going at AT LEAST 45 mph...and then came to a screatching stop right behind the three of us. The driver slammed the breaks and we were fine, I had just grabbed my daughter to move her closer to me to shield (ha, like that would've helped)...the driver pressed the gas and started going around us. We don't take that much of space on the street AND my daugher knows that she's to go to the curb AS SOON as she sees a car in either direction. In this case, we had no time.

So, as the car goes around us I yell "you need to slow down".

The driver opens (I believe manually) the passanger window and starts screaming at me. THe order may not be correct but

"What the fuck are you doing out this late with your child?" (it was 6:15pm)

"What the fuck are you doing walking here?"

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"

"You want a piece of me? Are you sure? 'Cause I can fucking take you right here."

Oh, and one of the lights on the car was broken, so the driver probably didnt' even see me that well to begin with.

Anyway, I am standing on a street wiht my 3 year old and a puppy and this (possibly drunk) driver is yelling at ME for WALKING on a road!!!! Would you be surprised if i  told you it was a drunken woman?

I froze. I knew that the best and most logical thing for me to do was to call the police. Turn around walk away. Anything but stay frozen. And i'm usually not the one to keep silent. But I was squeezing my daughter's hand in one hand and the leash in the other and I was not letting go. The woman also made some kind of a comment to my daughter which implied her TAKING my child....She then told me (don't ask me why) that she lives a block away and even told me which house...She threatened me once more and drove away slowly.

HOW SICK. I felt threatened, violated, and assaulted at once.

I can't believe how fucked up some people can be. What's wrong wiht her? This is beyond ridiculous.

Get the license plate and report next time....file a complaint ........to the police.    We have had cars SPEED down our 30MPH road.  I have gotten license plate numbers as they screech to the stop sign one house away from me.   I usually am outside doing yard work, that is how I happen to be able to look at the plate, memorize it and call the police and complain.    The police mainly have to check it out at some point and only give warnings to the drivers but there are times they get caught driving drunk later on that day. Basically what your doing when you report someone like that is making the police aware to watch out for this car and pull them over and check them out.   Good luck. You did the right thing today since you had a child with you.  Its scary when people are stupid like that!
