Me and Hank (my 2 yr old) went to go see "This is it" tonight and which I might say was AWESOME!!!! But the WHOLE 2 hrs of this movie Hank danced and danced... And some of the time we was doing (or trying to do) everything the dancers where... He also dance all the time at home.... So I was thinking maybe putting him in dance school once a week or so... But the only thing they offer for is age is ballett/tap....Is that ok for little boys? Do all know any boys who started out in them classes? I mean the one person I know of was Patrick Swayze and look he was a manly man!

Sure it's ok for a boy to take Ballet and Tap.  Some of the best Ballet and Tap dancers in the world have been men....to say nothing of the muscle strength, coordination, etc it takes to be really good at it.  It'll be great exercise for him and help to strengthen all his muscles, etc. and I'll bet he'll have a ball.

My son has taken dance since he was three (he's 8 now).  He LOVES it!  He's studying breakdancing right now; the kid can actually run up a wall and flip and land on his feet.  He thinks of it as a sport.

It IS a sport and as they grow older there are other classes they can join like jazz or hip hop at my d's dance school.  If he wants to do it, GO FOR IT!  It's more rare for them to stay w/it as they grow up and other kids tell them it's not cool so if he is interested, NOW is the time.  I always say the more we expose our kids to, the better prepared they are in life. Just go w/his lead as far as his interests and have fun!

Oh, yes, little boys can dance ballet.  It's great fun.  What was that movie made in England?   Billy Elliot.  Get it and watch it together.  It's kind of slow, but the end is way worth it, and that will answer your question very  nicely!

Good luck, Mama!  Your little boy is very blessed to have such a wise and loving and accepting Mother!

my daughter wanted to be a ballerina, and the only thing they offer for 2 yr olds here is a starter course. it has tap, ballet and tumbling. if he wants to dance you should let him. its great.

He can dance if he wants too, he can leave his friends behind, because if your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, well, they're no friends of mine.

Both of my brothers did ballett when they were young. They had fun, never had any issues and both turned out to be really really manly men who are now serving our country.

Let your little boy dance his socks off!

I'm thinking of putting my 3 1/2 year old son in dance to help with his balance. He has muscle issues and is in gymnastics right now (I'm a gymnastics coach so I'm a bit biased towards gymnastics over dance but I think he would like it)

Show him Singing In The Rain.

woah, seriously amazing stuff there!!   :-D

My daughters have and do take dance and there are usually boys in these classes.   Especially in our folk dance troupe--  lots of big boys, preteens.   They are excellent.
