Buttercups and daisy chains upon the coffee table
Laundry on the bathroom floor, bar of soap still moist.
Dust specs swirl, alone and free
Echo of a heart beat, once loud.
Telephone rings, little Anna’s appointment
Needs to get immunized, with all this sickness going round.
Keys rattle, front door swings,
Daddy weeps, smashes the coffee table in two.
The delicate flowers fall apart, life cut short.
Just like little Anna, they where in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Mommy sits by her side, stroking her hair that's wet with blood.
rosy cheeks are getting pale, fingers getting stiff.
Her tiny body never, never harmed a single thing
Sweet innocence just stolen, by an idiot with a bottle.
Couldn't wait a while, to get sober or to get a lift.
She was on her way to Nana's, to celebrate her 5th birthday
when he smashed his car right into her, a little life just gone...
Bright eyes closed, little ankles crushed, ribs shattered, neck snapped,
caught beneath the wheels, of a machine, driven by someone,
who thought they were depressed and deserved a drink.
Mommy comes home, dead eyes, face so blank.
Daddy can hardly breathe, his anger turns to tears.
Little Anna, her soul lays pure,
oblivious to the injustice, the pain she did endure.
