I woke up with a headache. LOVELY!  Whenever I wake up with a headache,it is just the precursor to a BAD day...  I tried to nap it away, but that didn't work.  I was in the bathroom getting ready for work when Gavyn, my now two year old monster, came in screaming, "Truck! Truck!"  He seemed really upset, and distressed! He grabbed my and pulled me into the kitchen, where I heard a popping sound.  I looked at the microwave, and saw... FLAMES!!!  He had put his toy semi truck in the microwave.  For FIFTEEN minutes!  By the time I got to the microwave, the truck had been "cooking" for 2 minutes. The microwave was emitting black smoke, and flames from the door. I opened the microwave door and the fire went out almost immediately. Thank GOD!  Gavyn is really upset about his truck.  So I end up running a little lat for work, no biggie, my supervisor is REALLY understanding.  I had a pretty good start to my day at work, despite being short staffed.  My headache was starting to go away (after about 3 doses of extra strength tylenol!!)  On of my co-workers went home early because she wasn't feeling really good.  So I worked her position in the emergency department.  I am a phlebotomist at a hospital.  Anyway, about an our after she left, we got a level one trauma.  We got that one stable, and we got another level one trauma! This second case happened to be a 4 month old with respiratory distress.  Turns out that the baby was being abused by a caregiver (it is assumed to be the mom's boyfriend).  She had old rib fractures and a new brain bleed.  The poor baby is in critical, but stable, condition.  It is unknown at this point if she will survive.  She was taken to a PICU, CPS was involved.  I cried.  I couldn't help it.  I tried not to, but I had to. I guess it means that I am human.  That is the hardest thing that I have been through.  I have had patients die in front of me, and I have seen some other wicked stuff, but this was the most horrible thing that I have experienced.  Please pray for this little one.  Pray for her survival, protection from the evil that did this to her, pary that if she does pass, that she is welcomed with open arms as the angel that she is.  So then on my way home after crying on and off, I see a truck pulled off on the side of the road with it's hazard lights on.  The truck was going in the other direction than I was.  I thought to myself, "Huh, I wonder if they are alright." About 200 yards further down the road was a deer. HA!  What a night!  I turned around, and pulled behind the truck.  I got out, and went to see i the driver was ok, and if they needed anything.  She was fine, just shaken. She said that it was her mom's truck, and that her mom jinxed her by telling her not to let anything happen to her truck. lol ironic?  Anyway, she told me that the deer ran out into the road, and then LAID DOWN!!! When it laid down, she ran it over with the dodge ram!!!  Deer committing suicide, what a perfect end to my night!  See, I have hit two deer now and I only wish that I had a dodge ram to hit them with, instead of a olds cutlass, or a Saturn ion!  She was lucky, no damage.  Just fur on the tires.  A man pulled over and hauled the deer off the road and onto the shoulder.  Nice big deer too!  She was lucky.

So it has been an interesting day to say the least. Tomorrow I am going to hopefully get a new microwave.  I am going to pray my heart out, even though I have no religion and no solid beliefs.  I am going to be thankful that it was not I that hit yet another deer, and that that lady and her mom's truck were OK.

I just had to laugh about the truck in the microwave, it was funny to read about! I am sure at the time it wasn't so funny though. LOL
